Wein Takes One Out

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Jonathan Wein raised to 2,400 from under the gun and the player in the cutoff popped it to 9,000. Action folded back to Wein and he took a look to see what his opponent had behind. Upon seeing it was only 5,800, he re-raised. His opponent called all in and turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, facing Wein's {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} to give Wein a boost and up his stack to about 60,000.

Brady Can't Get a Word In

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Matt Brady is starting to look a bit frustrated over there. Mr. Hug is not treating him well, and we've just picked up the two of them involved in another pot.

Mr. Hug limped in under the gun, and Brady followed suit next door. The two blinds came along as well, and it was four ways to a cheap flop. The dealer spread out {5-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {3-Spades}, and the table checked to Brady. He put out a small bet of 1,400, folding the blinds but enticing Mr. Hug to come along with the call. On the {J-Spades} turn, Mr. Hug led out into the pot with a bet of 5,000, and a look of sheer frustration immediately came across Brady's face. He spent another couple minutes in the tank before once again yielding to Mr. Hug and electing to save his ~13,000 chips for a more favorable spot. Like, one that doesn't involve the nemesis on his right.

Easy Game For Bell

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Chris Bell always looks just a touch bored at the table, and we think we may have sorted out why after watching him play three hands in a row.

On the first, Bell opened to 3,000 and the table folded to give him the blinds and antes.

On the second hand, Bell made the same raise, and the lady two seats down from him gave him action. The flop came {3-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}, and Bell's 4,000-chip continuation bet was enough to garner a quick fold.

On the third hand, Bell made it 3,000 to go once again, and the gentleman to his direct left came along with the call. A {7-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} flop drew another continuation bet from Bell -- you guessed it, 4,000 chips. And sure enough, the fold came instantly to add another few thousand chips to Bell's stack.

Yawn.

Lemons For Maier

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Lana Maier
Lana Maier

We missed the hand that sealed her demise, but we did see Lana Maier standing from the table with a sour look across her face. She gathered her things and wished a few of her pals luck as she headed to the exit.

Update: The lovely Ms. Maier was kind enough to return to the room and fill us in on the details of her exit. "I shoved 14 big blinds with {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}," she said with a shrug. "The opener had {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}." Another shrug and she was gone. Good game, Lana.

Brady Makes a Misstep

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Matt Brady
Matt Brady

We picked up the action on a {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} flop as the player we know as Mr. Hug check-called a bet from Matt Brady on his direct left.

The turn came the {8-Spades}, and the action check-checked to the {A-Hearts} river. Mr. Hug took the lead now, and his small bet of 4,000 sent Brady deep into the tank. He had just 15,000 chips left, and it would be several long minutes before he could make up his mind. He apologized to the table for taking so long, but he eventually made the (incorrect) call. When he splashed in the chips, Mr. Hug flashed {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}, and Brady flung his cards into the muck.

"Hell of a game..." he said, trailing off. He's left with just 11,000 chips now.

Maybe Brady's Eagles will beat the Cowboys tonight to bring some good tidings back to the Philadelphia native.

Beware the Little Man

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Speaking of open-shoves, we've got another short stack sparking the pot with an all-in raise for about 10,000 total. Mike "Little Man" Sica is the newest addition to that table, and he made the call on just his second or third hand there, committing most of his own chips to the pot in the process. Cards up, gents:

Sica: {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs}

There was no ace and no funny stuff on the board that ran {10-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}, and Sica picks up the pot. With it comes the knockout, moving Little Man up over his starting stack and back to about 23,000.

Wein-ing His Opponents Off Their Chips

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

A player in middle position open-shoved his final 13,200 chips into the middle, and Jonathan Wein made the call with the covering stack to put him at risk. Wein had the {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}, and he had his opponent's {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} in a world of trouble.

The {10-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {7-Hearts} flop brought some hope for the all-in player, drawing live now to four outs for his survival. The turn {5-Diamonds} was not a king, however, and neither was the {3-Clubs} that filled out the board. Ace-queen is no match for rockets, and that knockout pot has moved Wein up to about 50,000 now.
