Selbst Says Goodbye

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante
Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

In early position, Jordan Morgan raised to 3,000, and he found just one call; the short-stacked Vanessa Selbst came along from the big blind to have a look at a flop.

It came {A-Spades} {6-Spades} {J-Diamonds}, and Selbst check-called all in for her last 5,000. She turned up {Q-Clubs} {J-Spades}, and she was going to need some help to overcome Morgan's {A-Clubs} {10-Spades}. The turn {7-Hearts} and river {2-Diamonds} did nothing for her cause, however, and her day has come to an end.

Morgan - 66,000

Bell Forging a Big Stack

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Chris Bell and his {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} have just knocked off Brent Hanks and his {A-Spades} {10-Hearts}. The money got in preflop, and the dealer ran out a board of {J-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {9-Hearts}. Hanks found a ten on the turn, but it wasn't enough to get him over the hump.

Bell is up to 210,000 courtesy of that knockout.

Klodnicki v. Selbst For the Chip Lead, Part II

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante
Chris Klodnicki
Chris Klodnicki

All right, here's an interesting one.

When we walked up to the table preflop, Chris Klodnicki had 9,000 chips out in front of him, and Vanessa Selbst had 24,000 in front of her. It looks like it had to be a three-bet and a four-bet, respectively, but we can't say for sure. In any event, we picked up the action live as the decision was back on Klodnicki. He wasn't calling, instead reaching for most of his high-value T5,000 gray and T1,000 orange chips and sliding them across the line. Selbst assumed he was all in, and she announced the call and tabled her {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}. But Klodnicki still had about 15,000 in front of him. We'll deal with that in a moment.

The flop came out {10-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}, and Klodnicki wasn't sure what to do. "If you have an ace, just stick it in there," Selbst instructed him. But Klodnicki checked and let her make the decision for him. She bet her kings, and he called all in as he announced, "I don't have an ace." He turned up {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} drawing to a nine-out diamond to stay alive.

Turn: {10-Diamonds}. Bink!

Selbst was now the one in big trouble, needing to find a king or a ten on the river to keep herself in contention. The river was the {Q-Hearts}, though, and chips are changing hands. Klodnicki is all the way up to 300,000 with that pot, while Selbst has been crushed down to just 10,000 lonely chips.

Double or Nothing for Parker

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante
Brock Parker
Brock Parker

Brock Parker open-raised from the button, and Eugene Katchalov three-bet big from the small blind. When the big blind folded, Parker called all in for about 30,000 total, and the race was on:

Parker: {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}
Katchalov: {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}

The flop was no fun for the at-risk Parker as it came {J-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {A-Diamonds} to put him in a big hole with two to come. The turn {8-Hearts} kept Katchalov well in front, and the {Q-Hearts} river signaled the end of Parker's day. He's out shy of the dinner break, while Katchalov climbs further, up now to about 220,000.

WestmenloAA, Indeed

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron was all in for about 22,000 before the flop, and he found action from Jay Nair's {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. True to his name, Baron tabled {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} to put himself just a board away from a badly needed boost in the chip stack department.

That board ran out {9-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} {4-Hearts}, and Baron is back up to about 48,000 with that double dip.

Childs' Play

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante
Lee Childs
Lee Childs

There was about 35,000 already in the pot when Lee Childs moved all in for 14,800 on a {3-Spades} {4-Hearts} {10-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades} board. Big stack Chris Klodnicki called, but his cards remain a mystery. Childs showed up {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}, and his second-nut flush earns him a much-needed double up to about 65,000. Klodnicki is doing just fine, still at nearly twice the average stack with 153,000 chips.

Extra Queso

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Jared Jaffee raised to 4,000 from early position, folding the table around to the blinds. In the small, Jim "Mr_BigQueso" Collopy moved all in for 22,500, and right behind him, Jack Schanbacher flat-called. Jaffee ducked out of the way, and Collopy was heads up for his tournament life.

Showdown
Collopy: {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}
Schanbacher: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

Collopy flopped lucky as the dealer rolled out {K-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {8-Clubs}. The {7-Spades} turn kept Collopy in front, and the {2-Clubs} river locked up his double. he's back to 53,000 now, knocking Schanbacher down under 50,000.

Frankenberger's Monster

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Andy Frankenberger
Andy Frankenberger

First in from the hijack seat, Greg Merson raised to 3,200, and Andy Frankenberger three-bet him from the button. Merson four-bet shoved for another 69,400 on top, and Frankenberger tanked for a long while before making the call. The news was not good for the former chip leader:

Merson: {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}
Frankenberger: {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}

The {8-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} flop missed Frankenberger completely, but the {10-Diamonds} turn gave him another four outs to Broadway. He'd miss the queen, but he smacked the {A-Diamonds} on fifth street, shooting out of his chair and letting out a big, "Yes!" Merson wished his table luck and headed for the door, and Frankenberg is back amongst the leaders with about 180,000 now.

Mizzi Doubles Through Kenney

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

You're going to yell at us for not having all the details of this hand either, but we definitely want to tell you what we know.

When we arrived tableside, {2-Spades} {5-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} was spread out on the board. Sorel Mizzi had {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} exposed in front of him, and Bryn Kenney was counting out a big stack of chips with {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} in front of him. It's a guess, but it's quite possible that Bryn Kenney semi-bluffed at the turn with his open-ender. However the money went in, it worked out well for Mizzi as he's doubled up to about 170,000.

Kenney is down to 78,000.
