One Pair Good For Calenzo

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Kevin Calenzo
Kevin Calenzo

After the under-the-gun player called, Kevin Calenzo popped it to 1,325 from middle position. The player on the button made it 3,300 to go, prompting folds from the blinds and the limper. Calenzo called, leading to an {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop.

Calenzo check-called 4,200 from his opponent, landing the {8-Hearts} turn card. Both opted to check and did the same when the {3-Hearts} river card fell.

"One pair," said Calenzo while showing {8-Spades}{4-Spades}. His opponent mucked and the chips were pushed to Calenzo, now up to about 41,000.

Another Big Pot Involving Brown

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Traci Brown
Traci Brown

Traci Brown raised to 1,000 from early position and received a lone call from the player in the big blind. It went check, bet 2,000, check-raise to 5,000, and call on the {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} flop.

When the {5-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn, the big blind put out a big bet of 7,000, which sent Brown into the tank before she made the call. The {9-Hearts} was revealed on the river and the big blind tossed out a single grey chip, worth T5,000. Brown hit the tank again until one of her table-mates called a clock. She eventually made the call only to muck when her opponent showed {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped straight.

Brown is down to 25,000.

Vedes On His Way Up

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

While Tommy Vedes was a late arrival to today's event, he seems to have recovered nicely from any damage done to his stack by the missed blinds and antes. Recently, action folded to the player in the hijack and he raised to 1,000. Vedes called from the big blind and the pair watched the flop fall {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, which they both checked.

The dealer then burned and turned the {J-Spades}, inspiring Vedes to lead out with a 1,700 bet. The hijack gave it a moment's thought before tossing his cards in the muck. Vedes is up to around 23,000.

Kats in the Cradle and a Silver Spoon

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante
Stephen Kats
Stephen Kats

While Stephen Kats may not be the most recognizable name to poker fans, he has solidified his reputation as a WSOPC regular. He currently sits in 28th-place on the National Leaderboard with 82.5 points, a total he is looking to add to today.

In a recent hand, there was about 4,000 in the pot and a board reading {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} when the player in the big blind bet 3,000. Action was back on Kats on the button and he thought about for a few moments before releasing. While he gave up that small pot, he is still sitting pretty with around 50,000.
