Terry Raced Off

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Todd Terry
Todd Terry

Todd Terry was getting quite short on chips when he got the rest of his money in with {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. Tim West looked him up with {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, and the race was on.

West's horse ran faster as the board came {8-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, and Terry was unable to catch up. He's been knocked off in 17th place, exiting the room quickly with a bit of a scowl on his face.

Vartzar Eliminated by Eslami

Romik Vartzar
Romik Vartzar

A big pot brewed up between Romik Vartzar and Ali Eslami on the flop of {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Vartzar bet 10,000 and Eslami made the call to see the {3-Diamonds} fall on the turn. Vartzar checked and Eslami bet 22,000. Vartzar quickly moved all in for about 75,000 and Eslami made the call.

Eslami: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Vartzar: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

As you can see, Vartzar's top pair was dominated and he was drawing to one of the two remaining jacks in the deck. The river completed the board with the {2-Hearts} and Vartzar was eliminated. Eslami won the pot and moved into the chip lead.

Pilgrim tabled the {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, but Blanchard held the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and won the pot.

Day 3 Almost Ready

Dwyte Pilgrim
Dwyte Pilgrim

We're back inside the comfy Bordeaux Room here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's Rincon.

Today is Day 3, the second-to-last day of the West Regional Championship. From our starting field of 98 players, just 18 are left here to duke it out for a spot at the final table.

It's Kwinsee Tran with the big stack, but his lead is by no means secure. There are sharks in the water below him, including the second-place stack of Dwyte Pilgrim. Day 1 chip leader Ali Eslami is in third place, followed by recent tourney winner Tim "Tmay420" West. Also in the mix is Daniel Negreanu's middling stack, trailed by Kyle Bowker, Steve Brecher, Todd Terry, and Scott Montgomery.

Jesse Martin made it to this Day 3 as well, but he's got some work to do. Martin begins this penultimate day with the short stack of 18,500.

Here's the way the field stacks up:
