Engel Out

We caught up with the action to see Ari Engel facing a bet of 700 on a flop of {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Engel decided to pop it up to 2,100 and his opponent, Charles Bailey, responded by moving his entire stack in the middle.

Bailey had Engel covered, and Engel eventually dropped his last 11,000 in the middle, making the call.

Engel: {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Bailey: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} and Engel was one card away from elimination. Unfortunately for Engel, the {K-Clubs} fell on the river, making two pair for Bailey and no improvement for Engel.

As Engel walked away from the table, Bailey extended his hand for a handshake. Engel obliged, said "Well done," and quickly made for the exit.

Engel Takes Early Hit

Not too long after sitting down, Ari Engel, who made the final table of this event last year, was staring at a board reading {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. An early position player pushed out a bet and a player in middle position called. Engel also made the call and the three players went to the river with over 5,000 in the pot.

The river brought the {2-Clubs} and the early position player tossed out 3,500. The middle position player quickly mucked and Engel sat debating. He peeked at his cards and played with his chips for moment. He took a glance down at his cards one more time before tossing them toward the muck.

We found Matthew Hankins locked up in hand with an unknown opponent. The board read {K-Spades} {4-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}, Hankins checked and his opponent bet 1,200 into 2,500 pot. Hankins took a moment and then tossed in a call. His opponent tabled {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} and Hankins mucked.

We're Off to a Slow Start

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

It looks to be we have around 100 players in the room at the moment. There's a slow trickle of players entering the room. There's a bunch of seats to be filled and a couple lonely dealers waiting for their tables to be filled.
