The Born Supremacy

Matt Keikoan opened for 1,500 in late position and Jimmy Born raised to 4,200 on the button. The blinds released and action was back on Keikoan - and he called. The flop came {8-Spades} {4-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}, Keikoan checked and Born bet 5,500. Keikoan tossed in the call. The turn came {J-Hearts} and both players checked. The river brought the {J-Diamonds} and Keikoan checked. Born sat for a minute and then fired out 9,200. Keikoan sat motionless, then re-checked his cards and the slid them towards the dealer.

Born chipped up to almost 100,000 with that hand and appears to have grabbed the chiplead.

Easy Call

The board read {8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts}{a-Clubs} when we reached Chad Brown's table. He was heads up with an opponent who had checked, and Brown tossed out seven yellow T1,000 chips. His opponent tank-called.

"Nice call," Brown said, rapping the table.

His opponent opened up {q-Spades}{8-Clubs} for trip eights, and drug in the pot.

"Well, easy call with trip eights," Brown corrected himself.

Can You Feel My Powderly?

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Drazen Ilich opened to 975 from late position, a player on the button called, and Andy Powderly defended his big blind. The flop came down {10-Spades}{k-Spades}{7-Hearts}, and the action checked to the player on the button who fired 2,150. Powderly moved all in for 10,325, Ilich quickly folded, and the player on the button tank-called.

Showdown
Powderly: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The turn was the {q-Hearts}, giving Powderly's opponent some extra outs, but the {6-Hearts} bricked on the river and Powderly doubled to over 20,000.

Ladies Night

Jamie Kerstetter
Jamie Kerstetter

No, this isn't another post about corny music flooding the room from downstairs (although it sounds like they've started karaoke, or at least a very shaky cover band is on stage), rather this is a post about three very strong female players sitting at adjacent tables.

Jamie Kerstetter, Amanda Musumeci, and Joanne Monteavaro are seated at consecutive tables here in Ballroom D, and are all formidable foes. Each of the three has amassed over $100,000 in lifetime earnings, and combined they've banked over $550,000. Musumeci leads the trio with the biggest score - she finished 62nd in the WSOP Main Event for $130,997.
