"You Got Me"

"You got me."
"You got me."

After a player limped in front of him, Drazen Ilich raised to 925 pre flop. he found four callers, including the limper, and the flop came down {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. The action checked to Ilich who continued for 3,600, and an opponent on the button raised to 7,600. The action was back to Ilich who went into the tank and, after a moment for thought, Ilich announced, "all in." His opponent tank called.

"You got me," Ilich announced.

Showdown
Ilich: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Ilich had a big draw to go with his pair of sixes, and the {a-Hearts} spiked on the turn, giving him aces-up. The river was another ace - the {a-Diamonds} - giving a full house for kicks and giggles. Ilich's opponent was eliminated, while the two-time WSOPC gold ring winner chipped up above 50,000.

Where Are the Big Stacks?

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

A quick scan of the field and we're left wondering where the big stacks are. At this stage in the Day 1a flight we have several large stacks we were tracking. This group seems to have a lot less gamble in them and the biggest stack we could find was Joe Daddario with 70,000.

Boyle Bluffs Brown, Fails

Chad Brown ships a big one.
Chad Brown ships a big one.

James Boyle and Chad Brown were heads up with the board reading {7-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Boyle fired 2,500, Brown min-raised to 5,000, and Boyle re-raised to 10,000. Brown called.

The river was the {9-Clubs}, and Boyle led out for 15,000. Brown quickly called.

Boyle sheepishly turned over {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for jack-high, and Brown tabled {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for a pair of jacks to win the pot.

"What happens if I go all in?" Boyle asked him after the hand.

"Neither you nor I know the answer to that," Brown responded. "I mean that.

Donavan Darland had been trending downwards for most the day but just took a hand to earn some back. The board showed {4-Spades} {2-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {8-Hearts} and Darland bet out 525. His opponent mucked and Darland has 15,600.

Another Strange Hand

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

We heard a commotion coming from the middle of the ballroom, so we rushed over to see what was happening. When we arrived, the board was {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{k-Spades}, and Pralhad Deshpande was all in with {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} face-up in front of him. Another opponent had {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} open in front of him, but apparently he hadn't called.

According to a third player at the table, Deshpande had moved all in after his opponent bet 14,050. Rather than say, "call" or commit chips to the pot, his opponent proceeded to simply turn his cards over. The table believed this to be an all in and a call, but Poker Director John Arthur disagreed.

"I can't assume intent," he told Deshpande and the rest of the table. "The action wasn't completed."

The river card had also been momentarily exposed, so the dealer was forced to shuffle the card back in the deck. He riffled it a few times, and delivered the {3-Spades}. Deshpande raked in the pot, but was none too pleased about what had occurred.

An Unfortunate Series of Events

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

We didn't see the action in question but we were there before a floorman was called. Michael Hug was seated in the eight seat and put out a preflop raise and action passed around the table. Rex Clinkscales was in the six seat and went to toss his cards in the muck. Somehow his cards ricocheted off his other hand and fell directly on top of Hug's unprotected cards.

Clinkscales apologized and then told Hug his hand was dead. Half the table agreed and half disagreed and the floor was called.

As soon as the floor approached Clinkscales retrieved his cards and re-enacted the action. The floorman declared Hug's hand as dead and his raising chips were to remain in the pot. Hug was obviously distressed by the decision and took a few moments away from the table.
