Checking the Nuts

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Darvin Moon
Darvin Moon

Remember the ESPN broadcast of the 2009 World Series of Poker when Darvin Moon checked the nuts on the river and received a one-round penalty? It happens more than you think on the Circuit, and it recently happened at Moon's table, though this time he was the beneficiary.

We're not sure of the hand, but we do know that Jerry Monroe, the IP Biloxi Main Event Winner from early this year, was last to act in a hand against Moon and checked the nuts. He was promptly issued a one-round penalty while Moon and his table mates reminisced about the very same situation from back in 2009.

Harwood Races for Tournament Life

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Two-time ring winner Loni Harwood, who captured her second title earlier at this stop, open-shoved for 29,600 from the hijack and was called by the lady on the button.

Showdown

Harwood{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Button{A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

It was a classic race with Harwood looking to hold. That's exactly what she did as the board ran out {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, giving her the double to 63,000.

Mr. Wolf No Long With Us

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Michael Wolf was eliminated.
Michael Wolf was eliminated.

We didn't catch the hand but we noticed Mike Wolf's seat was empty. According to his Twitter feed he ran {A-} {8-} into {A-} {K-} for his last 18 big blinds.

To add insult to injury the player that eliminated him asked the dealer if "Ante" was short for something.

Lady Luck's Ladies Do the Trick

Ashley Wood - Lady Luck

A short-stacked Jeffrey Hoffman opened for 5,600 and Ashley Wood raised enough to put Hoffman all in. Hoffman called and the hands were tabled.

Wood: {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}
Hoffman: {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

The board ran {2-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} {3-Clubs} and Wood's earned the knockout. Wood just happens to have "Lady Luck" tattooed across her knuckles.

Will "Monkey" Souther just passed by our table and informed us, "Monkey has left the building." He explain he shipped his 10bb stacks with {A-}{6-} and was called by an opponent's {Q-}{10-}. A queen on the flop spelt disaster for Monkey and he was eliminated from the tournament.
