Chivukula Chips at Charder

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

Christian "charder30" Harder opened for 800 from the hijack seat, Kalyan Chivukula called from one seat over, and the small blind called as well. The flop came {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and when checked to Harder continued for 1,175. Chivukula called, and the small blind stepped aside.

The turn brought the {J-Diamonds} and a bet of 3,000 from Harder. This time Chivukula responded with a raise to 8,075, and after thinking for a while Harder let his hand go.

Chivukula then showed his hand — {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} (a set of treys) — and collected the chips.

Ho Adds To Her Stack

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

There was already 10,000 in the middle when Ting Ho and two other players saw a flop of {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. The small blind bet out 6,150, and Ho made the called. The other player folded, and the {q-Diamonds} hit the turn. It didn't take long for Ho's opponent to check, and she took the opportunity to move all in for about 13,000 total. Her opponent snap folded, and Ho scooped the pot.

After that hand, Ho and her puppy Bella are now sitting on 38,000.

Dannenmann Doesn't Make the Call

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

With about 8,000 in the middle, and the board reading {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, Steve Dannenmann faced a pot sized bet from his lone opponent. Dannenmann spent about 15 seconds thinking before sending his cards to the dealer.

Dannenmann has been up most of the flight, but he is back down to just over his starting stack now, sitting on 21,000.

Some Stacks

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

Here's a look at some counts as we cross the midway point of Day 1b's Level 6, including that of Alex Rivera who is hoping to improve on his 19th-place finish in this event one year ago.

Quick Call from Kalyan

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

A player limped from early position, then it folded to Kalyan Chivukula who raised to 1,000 from the cutoff seat. It folded back to the limper who reraised all in for his last 6,000 or so, and Chivukula instantly called.

"That didn't take long," said Chivukula's opponent who tabled {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, and he responded quickly once more by turning over his {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. The board ran out {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, and another player has hit the rail.

Clinkscales Cut Down

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

Not very long after we reported that Rex Clinkscales was down from his original starting stack, we saw him grab his things and head to talk to some friends on the rail. He has been eliminated from the main event, and since he busted out of Day 1a, he will not be able to register tomorrow.

The Puppy Has Arrived!

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

Oh yeah, and her owner Ting Ho as well. Ho has been grinding the circuit this year, and on occasions, her puppy Bella will come down to help her out with a couple decisions. Well Bella is relaxing in her lap while Ho grinds the tournament. She brought in late and is still around her starting stack.

Reslock-ed Out

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

"So if you bust today you can still buy back in tomorrow?"

So asked a player at Christine Brewer's table just now, and she was able to provide a response.

"That's right... unless, you played Day 1a," she explained. "Don't tell him that!" cracked Travell Thomas, sitting to Brewer's left, and the table laughed.

Indeed, players who did not play in the earlier flight today who bust in tonight's Day 1b will have that option to buy in at the start of play at tomorrow's Day 2.

Alas for five-time WSOP-Circuit ring winner Chris Reslock, he won't be able to continue his quest for a record-tying sixth ring — and his second this week — as he was recently eliminated for the second time today.

Brewer has done well for the first half of the Day 1b flight, having more than doubled her starting stack. Meanwhile, Thomas — back for a second time today — has chipped up a bit from the 20,000 with which players began.
