Day 2 of the 2012-13 World Series of Poker Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club Main Event took place on Sunday, and leading the remaining 30 players is David Grandieri. Grandieri bagged 1.352 million chips, shooting up the charts during the last levels of play.

Grandieri recorded the second-largest score of his life three weeks ago, earning $41,102 for winning a $530 event at the Mega Stack Challenge XXVII.

Joining Grandieri on Day 3 are Jonathan Tamayo, Sheddy Siddiqui, Clint Tolbert, Sam Panzica, Nancy Birnbaum, Mark Rose, Jon Godwin, Tom Gleason, and Arshin Gamini.

Grandieri and Tamayo ended the day on the same table, and both ended on a high note. Right before the last level began, Tamayo doubled through Warren Danz. Tamayo was all in on a board of {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} with {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and Wanz had him at risk with {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Tamayo held as the {9-Hearts} completed the board, doubling to around 400,000 chips. He doubled that stack throughout Level 21, and finished just short of the chip lead.

Pedro Rios, who started the day third on the 2012-13 WSOP National Leader Board, got off to a hot start. He and an opponent were heads up on a board of {8-Spades}{k-Spades}{a-Clubs}{10-Spades}, and Rios fired 7,500. His opponent called. The river was the {5-Hearts}, Rios fired out a 18,000-chip bet, and his opponent again called. Rios tabled {q-Clubs}{j-Spades} for Broadway, and his opponent mucked.

Rios took a few hits later in the day, especially one big one from Anthony Lombard, and will have the smallest stack (142,000) entering into Day 3.

Ari Engel and Rex Clinkscales, who entered the day first and second respectively on the National Leaderboard, were both eliminated. Engel busted well before the money, while Clinkscales busted in 48th place, earning $3,357. Clinkscales moved all in on the button during Level 21 with {q-Spades}{4-Spades}, and an opponent looked him up with {4-}{4-}. The fours held, and Clinkscales hit the rail.

Ben Reason vaulted to the top of the chip counts during Level 17, where he made a fortuitous full house on the river. He and an opponent were heads up on a flop of {k-}{10-}{2-} with two hearts, and Reason check-called a 13,000-chip bet. The turn was the {6-Hearts}, Reason checked, and the player fired 16,000. Reason check-raised to 50,000, the player moved all in for well over 100,000, and Reason called. Reason’s {2-}{2-} trailed his opponent’s {a-Hearts}{x-Hearts}, but a {6-} paired the board on the river, and Reason raked in the massive 375,000-chip pot.

Reason was unable to survive the day, busting right before the last five hands of the evening.

In the next level of play, Tolbert won a 400,000-chip pot. He and Raj Vohra were heads up on a board of {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and Tolbert fired out a bet of 28,000. Vohra tanked for a bit, then moved all in for around 140,000. Tolbert snap-called, and the hands were opened:

Tolbert: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Vohra: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Tolbert held as the turn and river came {3-Clubs}, {5-Spades}. Vohra was eliminated soon after.

Round-for-round play began at the start of Level 20, and the bubble burst during the very first round. Tony Miles had a short-stacked player all in and at risk preflop holding {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. The at risk player was dominated with {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, and Miles held.

Miles did not survive the day however, running into the quad fives of Arshin Gamini.

Joining Miles and Reason on the rail after the money bubble were Harrison Gimbel, Lee Childs, Jared Jaffee, Mark Maletic, Will Souther, Ebony Kenney, and Mukul Pahuja. Kenney busted holding {9-}{9-} on a board of {7-}{6-}{4-}. Her opponent, Michael Johnston, called her all in with {a-}{10-}, and made a pair of aces on the turn. The river was a brick, and Kenney was off to the cage to collect her money.

Play will resume on Monday at 1 p.m., where a champion will be crowned. Make sure to check the PokerNews Live Reporting Page for all of your up-to-the-minute updates straight from the tournament floor.

Five More!

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Tournament staff has announced five more hands before bagging and tagging for the night.

Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

An early position player opened to an unknown amount only to have Jared Jaffee three-bet all in for his last 143,000. Action folded to Mark Rose in the small blind who four-bet all in over the top and the rest of the table quickly folded.

Rose: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Jaffee: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The board fell {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Jaffee was unable to improve, sealing his elimination from play. Rose, on the other hand, is now sitting on about 475,000.

Linster Long Gone

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

A short-stacked Mike Linster moved all in before the flop holding {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and received a call from an opponent holding {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Linster was happy that he was drawing live but unfortunately nothing materialized for him on the five community cards and he was sent to the rail as the 37th place finisher.

Childs Eliminated

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Lee Childs shipped in his last 104,000 before the flop and was called by Anthony Lombard. The hands were turned over and Childs quickly found out that he was in need of some help.

Childs: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Lombard: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

Lombard paired up on the {J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} flop and Childs was now looking to make Broadway. The {4-Spades} on the turn and the {10-Clubs} on the river were of no help to him, however, and he was forced to settle for an exit late here on Day 2. Lombard, on the other hand, is now sitting on about 725,000 in chips.

Walking Sticks For Campanello

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

The flop read {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Bryan Campanello checked to his lone opponent. Campanello then faced a bet of 28,000 which was promptly called. The turn brought the {2-Spades} and Campanello check-called 30,000.

The board completed with the {10-Spades} and the action was checked by both players. Campanello's opponent tabled {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for ace-high but was ultimately behind Campanello's {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Campanello is now thriving with about 560,000 in chips.

Miles Busts to Quads

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Board: {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Clubs}

Tony Miles checked, Arshin Gamini fired 20,000 into a pot of around 60,000, and Miles called.

The river was a repeat five - the {5-Hearts} - and Miles checked again.

"All in," Gamini announced, splashing forward a handful of red T5,000 chips.

Miles tanked for around two minutes, then called all in for around 60,000. Gamini spiked {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} onto the felt for quad fives, and Miles unhappily mucked his hand.

He is eliminated, while Gamini now sits with 375,000 chips.
