Jaffee Takes a Hit

Level 14 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Jared Jaffee was faced with bet on a board of {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs}, and asked his opponent "Twelve-five?"

The player nodded, and Jaffee flipped forward 12,500.

The player ripped over {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the wheel, and when the dealer spread the player's bet out, it was really 17,500. The dealer requested that Jaffee toss in an extra 5,000, which he protested.

The floor was called, and they explained to Jaffee that it is his responsibility to make sure what the bet is before committing his chips. Jaffee begrudingly added an extra 5,000 to his call, leaving him with just 43,000 chips.

Nicholson Makes Crippling Decision

Level 14 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We came upon David Nicholson heads up in a hand where the board read {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Nicholson checked his opponent who moved a bet totaling 20,000 into the middle. This bet constituted a large chunk of Nicholson's stack and he riffled chips while he sat mulling over a decision.

Eventually Nicholson dropped in a call and his opponent tabled {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} for jacks. Nicholson mucked and the pot was pushed to the other end of the table. Nicholson is now sitting on about 16,000 in chips.

Level 14 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Natasha Barbour opened to 4,000 from early position, and Jay Guild three-bet shoved for around 40,000 in the cutoff. The rest of the players folded, and Barbour immediately called.

Barbour: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Guild: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, and Guild was eliminated. Barbour now sits with around 170,000 chips.

Conrad Can't Win a Flip

Level 14 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Chris Conrad raised out of the hijack seat, Jon Godwin three-bet shoved for around 20,000 on his direct left, and the action folded to Mark Rose in the big blind. He tanked for a considerable amount of time, then folded.

Conrad immediately called.

Conrad: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Godwin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The {6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} all but gave Godwin the pot, and the {a-Clubs} on the turn gave him a leading pair of aces. Conrad needed the {9-Clubs} and the {9-Clubs} only to win the pot, and the {2-Clubs} bricked on the river.

Godwin doubled, while Conrad is still very healthy with 81,000 chips.
