Players are now on a ten-minute break, and so are we!
"They got me," we heard Ralph Massey yell to his brother Aaron from across the room.
We made our way over to see the cards and board laid out, and Massey explained what happened. He explained that he had opened for 1,300 and received calls from three opponents, one being Bobby Corcione. Massey then bet 2,850 on the ![]()
![]()
flop, Corcione raised to 10,000, and the other players folded. Massey responded by moving all in for a bit over 30,000 and Corcione called.

Massey got it in good, but he needed to dodge the straight and flush draws of Corcione. He did so on the
turn, but he wasn't so fortunate as the
spiked on the river to give Corcione the flush.

As we move toward the end of Level 9 and the last break of the night, we're starting to see some big stacks emerge.
Tom Cope appears to have been the first here in Day 1b to crack the 100,000-chip mark. Cope has a number of cashes to his credit, many here in Mashantucket. He also made a deep run in the WSOP Main Event back in 2008, finishing 173rd.
We'd noticed his stack had ballooned upward, and he was nice enough to count it down for us — 106,550. He then got into a conversation with a floor person who for some reason had half of a $5 bill in his hand.
"Did you lose your $2.50?" asked the floor person of Cope. "No," he answered, then offered to provide a more accurate estimate there as well.
"Actually, that looks more like $3," he estimated.

*Leading up to the WSOP Circuit Foxwoods stop.
We've been trying to catch WSOP Circuit commentator Bernard Lee in a big hand here on Day 1b, but so far we've come up empty handed. That's doesn't mean he hasn't had them though, a fact evidenced by his latest tweet.

Kathy Liebert opened the action from early position with a raise to 1,500, and she was met by an all-in shove for roughly 7,000 by a gentleman in the hijack. Ronnie Bardah gave it some thought before folding from the cutoff, the rest of the field followed suit, and Liebert snap-called.

"You looked like you had it," Bardah said before disclosing he had folded pocket nines.
"Every once in awhile I have a real hand," Liebert said with a smile.

Ronnie Pease got off to a fast start today, but things didn't go as well for him thereafter and he just now saw his Day 1b end prematurely here in Level 8.
