Ausmus Clubs MacKinnon

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

In one of the last hands of Level 7, DJ MacKinnon raised to 1,300 in middle position. Jeremy Ausmus defended his big blind, then checked when the dealer fanned {7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. MacKinnon continued for 1,500, Ausmus check-raised to 4,200, and MacKinnon made the call.

The turn was a third club - the {8-Clubs} - and Ausmus flipped forward 5,200. MacKinnon reached for chips, and made the call.

The river was a repeat eight - the {8-Diamonds} - and Ausmus led out for 12,000. MacKinnon made the call, then frustratingly mucked when the Octo Niner showed {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a turned flush.

Ausmus now has over 130,000 chips, while MacKinnon is down to 18,000.

Former All-Time WSOP Circuit Ring Winner Falls

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

With six World Series of Poker Circuit rings, 27-year-old Alex Masek was the all-time ring winner, that is until Chris Reslock passed him last month as the first to seven. Both men were in today's field, but Masek has just fallen.

We caught him on the way out of the room and he explained what happened. According to him, Joe Tehan opened for 1,300 under the gun and he three-bet to 3,525 from middle position. Tehan called, the flop fell {K-}{2-}{2-} and Masek bet 3,700 after his opponent had checked. Tehan then woke up with a check-raise to 8,000, Masek called and the {9-Spades} turned. Tehan led out for 10,200 and then snap-called when Masek moved all in for 21,000.

Masek held {A-}{K-} for kings and deuces, but it was no good as Tehan revealed {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. The river blanked and Masek was sent to the rail.

Parsons Keeps Adding

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

When we reached the table, the flop read {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Jesse Sylvia had a bet in front of him, Chris Parsons had raised to 9,500, and Sylvia re-raised to 17,300. Parsons called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts}, both players checked, and the {j-Diamonds} completed the board. The two knuckled again.

Parsons showed {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} for queens and sixes, prompting Sylvia to muck his hand.

Marshall Calls Twice, Then Check-Jams

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Joe Tehan opened to 1,300 in middle position, Cary Marshall called in the small blind, and Jonathan Hilton three-bet to 3,600 out of the big blind. Tehan opted to put in a fourth bet, making it 7,200, and again Marshall called. Hilton folded.

The dealer fanned {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}, Marshall checked, and Tehan fired 6,800. Marshall check-jammed, making it 30,000 to go, and Tehan snap-folded.

Pecaski and Sanders Exit

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

A short-stacked David Pecaski, who was an at-large qualifier, moved from middle position for his last 4,300 and action folded around to Harrah's New Orleans Main Event champ Luke Graham, who called from the big blind.

Graham: {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Pecaski: {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Pecaski was behind, but he was drawing live. The {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop failed to hit Pecaski directly, but it did give him an open-ended straight draw. Unfortunately for him, neither the {A-Hearts} turn nor {5-Hearts} river completed it and he was sent to the exit.

Meanwhile, Michael Sanders has been eliminated from the tournament.

Ludemann Takes More from Baker

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

After doubling through David "ODB" Baker minutes ago, Jarod Ludemann has neen sticking it to last year's National Championship sixth-place finisher.

In a recent hand, Ludemann opened for 1,400 from early position and then called when Baker three-bet to 3,100 from the cutoff. Ludemann proceeded to check-call bets of 4,100 and 6,100 on the {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop and {A-Clubs} turn respectivley, and then he checked for a third time when the {K-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Baker kept the pressure on with a bet of 8,600, but Ludemann made a quick call. Baker seemed to know his {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} was no good, and he was right as Ludemann tabled the {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for a flopped set.

Koon and O'Brien Spar

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Jason Koon opened to 1,350 from under the gun, and received two calls including Dan O'Brien on the button. The dealer fanned {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, the action checked to O'Brien, and he fired out 2,100. Koon check-raised to 5,050, and only O'Brien called.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, and Koon opted to lead out for 11,000. O'Brien mulled the decision over for well over a minute, then sent his cards spiraling into the muck.

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Cord Garcia
Cord Garcia

Cord Garcia doubled on one of the first hands back from break. He had two black aces on a board of {j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, and Dominik Nitsche sent his cards spiraling into the muck.

Garcia doubled to around 20,000 chips, while Nitsche is back to starting stack.
