Han Kuo, Henning Wendlandt Top 47 Remaining Players After Day 2 of WSOP Circuit Rozvadov Main Event

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Henning Wendlandt Sits In Second After Amazing Day
Henning Wendlandt Sits In Second After Amazing Day

The second day of the 2016 WSOP Circuit €1,650 Main Event at King's Casino in Rozvadov saw 315 players return to the tables. An additional 49 late entrants registered at the start of Day 2, bumping the number of remaining players to 364 and the overall field to 851. The top 87 spots would finish in the money and share a portion of the €1,212,675 prize pool.

At the end of the day, it was Han Kuo of Germany who bagged the overall chip lead with 1,673,000. Kun is closely trailed by Henning Wendlandt (1,600,000), Oriol Fernandez (1,595,000) and Ivan Banic (1,366,000), who all rose to the top after an amazing day at the tables.

The day started off furiously, with 364 players trying to put themselves in a good position. Johnny Hansen became one of the first eliminations of the day, and was soon followed by the likes of Killian Kramer, Raoul Refos, Sofia Lövgren, Dominik Panka, Ondrej Vinklarek, Martin Staszko and defending champion Mateusz Dziebowski. All of them going home empty-handed.

Near the bubble, James Akenhead and Michal Mrakes were eliminated from the tournament. Akenhead shoved ace-king into ace-six but saw his opponent improve with a runner-runner flush. Mrakes held pocket queens against pocket eights, but an eight on the turn send him packing. Jan-Dirk Wieckenberg, eventually became the bubble. He was down to just a single big blind and forced all in with eight-four against pocket queens. He failed to improve and was the last player going home before the money.

After the money was reached, Han Kun quickly soared to the top by winning a large number of medium-sized pots. He ended the day in top position with 1,673,000, but a lot of great players are still in contention, including Alexander Lahkov (964,000), Jonas Lauck (267,000), Jan Bendik (240,000) and Ronald van de Linde (175,000).

However, Day 2 was without a doubt the day of Henning Wendlandt, who had been trending nothing but up. Up until the last level, long-time chipleader Wendlandt appeared to be invincible, dragging pot after pot. Wendlandt became the first player to cross the one million mark. Due to a late slump, the Austrian just missed out on the end-of-day chip lead and sits in second with 1,600,000.

Action will resume on Monday at 2 p.m. local time with Level 24 and blinds of 10,000/20,000 with a running ante of 3,000. All players have €4,729 locked up for their efforts, but their eyes are set on the coveted WSOP Circuit gold ring as well as the first place prize of €232,241.

Due to the many entrants, King's Casino and the WSOP have decided to add an extra day to the schedule. On Monday, the tournament will play down to the final 8, and the final table will be played out on Tuesday. The PokerNews.com Live Reporting team will be on the floor to report all the action until a champion is crowned on Tuesday night.

Not Just Win Win Win For Wendlandt

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Henning Wendlandt

As the great philosopher DJ Khaled once said: "All I do is win win win, no matter what." It could have been a song about Henning Wendlandt's run in this tournament, as it has been nothing but up for the Austrian.

That is until moments ago, when Wendlandt finally had to concede some chips. With pocket tens, he got it all in on a flop of {9-}{7-}{5-} against Oliver Classen. Classen held {10-}{8-} for a straight draw and spiked a {6-} on the turn to double-up.

Shortly after, Wendlandt also doubled-up Ronald van de Linde's stack of six big blinds. Wendlandt could take the hit, but he's swinging 0 for 2 in the level so far.

Jan-Dirk Wieckenberg Is The Bubble

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Jan-Dirk Wieckenberg
Jan-Dirk Wieckenberg

With a super short stack, Jan-Dirk Wieckenberg was forced all in from the big blind. Action was folded around to Jorg Peisert in the small blind, who automatically had a call.

Jorg Peisert: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Jan-Dirk Wieckenberg: {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

The media swooped in and all the cameras were pointed at Wieckenberg, who awaited his fate with a smile.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, giving the German a glimmer of hope. The turn was the {9-Spades}, and Wieckenberg was drawing to an eight or four to stay alive.

The river {10-Hearts} was neither, which made Wieckenberg the last player to go home empty-handed. All the other players are guaranteed at least €3,759.

Akenhead and Mrakes Eliminated

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Michal Mrakes (right)
Michal Mrakes (right)

There will be no in-the-money finish for James Akenhead and Michal Mrakes in this WSOP Circuit Main Event.

Akenhead committed his last 30,000 from late position with {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. The big blind called the shove with {A-Spades}{6-Clubs} and made a runner-runner flush on {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} to send Akenhead home.

Mrakes faced an all-in bet on {7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. With his last 120,000 in chips, Mrakes made the call with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, but went aghast when his opponent showed {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for the turned set. The river was the {9-Spades} and Mrakes was sent packing.

The field is now two places away from the money.

Wendlandt Crushes Cintula's Hopes

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Henning Wendlandt
Henning Wendlandt

Once again, Henning Wendlandt has crushed the dreams of one of his opponents. This time, Andrej Cintula was forced to a rail after a clash with the chipleader.

On a board of {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{J-Spades}, all the chips of Cintula and Wendlandt went in the middle. Cintula held {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of nines and a straight draw, Wendlandt had {K-Spades}{9-Spades} for the better pair of nines and a flush draw.

The river {10-Spades} completed the flush for Wendlandt and sent Cintula home in 93rd place.

Team Georgia Down To Last Member

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Georgian Flag
Georgian Flag

A massive group of players from Georgia has settled down in Rozvadov to play in the Main Event. Represented by a full-fledged reporting team, including their own camera's, the Georgians seemed poised to leave a big mark on this event. Their group was so big that an entire bus was needed to bring every Georgian from Prague airport to Rozvadov.

Unfortunately, things didn't quite go as planned. Out of the twenty-something Georgians that took their seat in this event, the former Soviet-state is down to their last member. It's Valeri Bakhturidze who has the hope of an entire nation resting on his shoulders.

Deeply tucked away in his hoodie, the Georgian is fully focused and trying to survive. With 250,000, he's hanging around the average stack. The Georgian reporting team isn't leaving his side and captures every move of their hero as he moves closer to the money.

Wendlandt Crosses One Million Mark

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Henning Wendlandt
Henning Wendlandt

It's all Henning Wendlandt at the moment. Poor Martin Weiemann also lost the rest of his stack to the unstoppable Austrian, who's now up to over one million.

On a flop of {J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, a third player bet an unknown amount and Wendlandt check-raised to 64,000. Weiemann shoved for 92,000, the third player folded and Wendlandt called it off with a smile.

Martin Weiemann: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Henning Wendlandt: {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Wendlandt was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but after the {2-Hearts} turn and {5-Spades} river his ace-high improved to an improbable straight to send Weiemann to the rail.

Wendlandt Doesn't Get Tired Of Winning

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Henning Wendlandt

Even Donald Trump might not be winning as much as Henning Wendlandt does. Everything the Austrian touched today has turned into gold. Just now, he took down another sizable pot at table 79.

Wendlandt defended his big blind against a middle position raise from Martin Weiemann. Both players checked the {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} on the flop. Wendlandt bet 13,000 on the {4-Clubs} turn and Weiemann called.

On the {Q-Diamonds} river, Wendlandt bet 34,000 and Weiemann called again. The Austrian flipped {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts} open for the rivered nut straight, enough to take the pot.

Akenhead Takes On Ruzicka

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Vojtech Ruzicka
Vojtech Ruzicka

Vojtech Ruzicka raised to 9,000 from the cutoff. James Akenhead three-bet to 31,000 from the small blind and Ruzicka called. The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Akenhead continued with a bet of 18,000 and Ruzicka called again.

The 2009 November Niner checked the turn, prompting the 2016 November Niner to bet 35,000. Akenhead spent nearly four minutes in the tank before shoving all in for 74,500.

A visibly disgusted Ruzicka spent a minute in the tank, but even with the tempting odds the Czech couldn't make the call and folded.

Panka Is Gone

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Dominik Panka
Dominik Panka

Polish superstar Dominik Panka is no longer in the Main Event. First, Panka ran ace-queen into pocket aces to lose most of his stack.

Shorty after, his last chips went in with pocket fives versus ace-queen. A queen on the flop sealed his fate and ended his Main Event run.
