Gilbert Trending Up

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
James Gilbert at the WSOP $1,500 Bounty Final Table
James Gilbert at the WSOP $1,500 Bounty Final Table

One of the most accomplished players in the field today is James Gilbert. The American has over $1,3 million in lifetime winnings and is ranked 181st on the GPI ranking. Gilbert racked up six cashes at the 2017 World Series of Poker, including a 3rd place in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Bounty for $119,497.

Ironically enough, two Dutch players in the field today reached the same WSOP final table (Tobias Peters and Govert Metaal), and might meet up with Gilbert again later today.

On a {10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{4-Spades} board, Gilbert was facing a 13,000 bet from Niko Mykkanen. Gilbert called with {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and defeated Mykkanen's {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts} to move up to 85,000.

Van Krevelen Doubles; Feenstra Gone

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

At the feature table, Rene van Krevelen found an early double-up through Michal Mrakes. Van Krevelen opened on the button and Mrakes defended his big blind. The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Krevelen triple barreled his stack in the middle.

Mrakas called every street with {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, Van Krevelen tabled {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and won the hand.

At another table, Rens Feenstra, who finished 13th in the PokerStars Championship Barcelona Main Event last week, has ran out of chips.

Krijn Was Almost Gone

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Tonny Krijn is one of the players who showed up at the start of Day 2. After ten minutes, Krijn was almost out of the tournament already.

After losing half his stack with {A-}{6-} against Farukh Tach's {A-}{Q-} in a button against small blind spot, Krijn put the rest in shortly after with {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Drawara Sadio looked him up with {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Krijn rivered a straight to stay alive.
