Getting Rich With Ngoc Bui Hai

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

There was an open to 300 and two callers before it got to Ngoc Bui Hai from Vietnam who squeezed to 1,400. The first two players folded relatively quickly and the last asked if it was just him left before showing the {a-Diamonds} and mucking.

“You’re too rich for us.” Said another of his opponents and Bui Hai didn’t disagree with him as he has got off to a good start.

Soenke Jahn vs Angelo Sanzio

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

It was a battle between the Germans at Table 89 as Angelo Sanzio opened to 300 from under-the-gun and Soenke Jahn three-bet to 1,100 from the big blind. Sanzio called and the flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

With 2,250 in the pot already Jahn kept it small, betting 800, and his opponent called.

The turn was the {6-Spades} and Jahn checked to his opponent, who bet 2,200. Jahn called.

The river was the {10-Clubs}. Again Jahn checked and Sanzio bet 4,000. Jahn called and was shown {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Jahn dutifully turned over {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and took down the pot.

River Shove From Nagy Barnabás

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

The board at the river read {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and Nagy Barnabás from Hungary was first to act.

There was a substantial pot in the middle to be won and after some contemplation Barnabás moved all in. Fellow Hungarian Zsolt Vasvenszki shook his head but was soon pushing his cards away to surrender the hand.

Barnabás collected the pot and there was a brief exchange of murmured words between the two as Vasvenszki contemplated his reduced stack.

Making Friends At the WSOPC

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Georgios Vrakas and Athanasios Zachros are both over from Greece to play the Main Event and are having a good discussion with Sebastian Percy-Smith from Denmark at the same table.

Percy-Smith has position on them both and having got a little lucky in an early hand with suited connectors he has been joking around with them. He then quizzed them on new poker tax arrangements in Greece which he described as, “Fun.”

The Greeks shook their heads and declared it, “Not so good.”

Aggression Pays For Senai Egziabher

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

From the big blind Senai Egziabher three bet an open with two callers to 775. That didn’t shake anyone off though and four players took a flop of {7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. No action there and on the turn card {5-Spades} a bet from Egziabher took it down.

Facing an open on the next hand Egziabher again three-bet a button open to 750 and got calls from the big blind and original raiser.

No action on the flop of {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts} and on the turn card {2-Spades} Egziabher bet 750 but this time the other two players called the bet.

The river was the {7-Hearts} and Egziabher put out a much larger bet of 3,600. The other two players called the bet but mucked in dismay when he showed his {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} full house.

With the board reading {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Zoran Stancuovic checked to his opponent Marcin Kreft who bet 1,500 into a pot of around 2,900.

Stancuovic then raised to 4,800. His opponent thought for a while. It was a hefty raise, and with just over five minutes left in the first level of the tournament, he elected to fold.

His Serbian opponent moved his cards out as if to fold, and Kreft motioned for Stancuovic to turn them over. He turned over one, the {k-Diamonds}, asking Kreft whether it was good. Kreft motioned again to show the other one and Stancuovic obliged showing {k-Hearts} for pocket kings, giving him a full house.

"I will only show once," said Stancuovic, who despite winning this pot is down below the 30,000 stack he started the tournament with.

On the river of a board reading {2-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{6-Spades} it was checked to Thomas Traboulsi, known as "The Talk.” who said, “I forget what I have so…” and bet 1,500.

His opponent mulled it over and said he thought the river card was good for Trabousli, to which he patted his heart in seeming relief that he hadn’t been quickly called.

His opponent folded and Traboulsi showed him his {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds} full house. Asked what he had laid down he said Ace-Jack which got a nod of approval and a fist bump from his opponent.
