Khalife Deals Final Blow to Hsissen

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Even though Gil Thierry doubled through Barny Boatman earlier and Boatman doubled up just now after having paid two double ups, they both aren't seated at the table any more.

On the other table, there was a four-way pot building up. The flop read {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, Mehdi Hsissen checked from the big blind, Hanna Khalife bet 3,100 from mid-position. The player in the hijack folded, Fabian Gumz called from the cutoff and so did Hsissen.

The turn brought them the {4-Diamonds}, Hsissen shoved all in, Khalife did the same and Gumz folded.

Hanna Khalife: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Mehdi Hsissen: {K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Hsissen had a flush draw against the straight that Khalife had flopped. The river came with the {3-Hearts} which although it was the right color, it wasn't the right suit, and Hsissen was eliminated.

Lewis Loses to Lech

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Michael Lech just won a big hand against Romain Lewis and they were both kind enough to tell us what had happened.

Lewis raised to 1,500 from the lowjack and Lech called from the hijack. The players in the cutoff and the big blind also called.

The flop came with the {q-}{4-}{2-} with two spades, big blind checked and so did we. The cutoff bet 2,700, the big blind folded, Lewis raised to 9,000, Lech called, the cutoff folded.

They both checked through the {5-Spades} on the turn to the {3-} on the river. Lewis thought it was a good spot to bet 25,000 as he held kings. Lech called with aces.

"It seemed a good spot to do that" Lewis said. Lech agreed it would be... normally.

The player with queens completed the small blind and Delpui raised to 2,000 in the big blind. The small blind three-bet to 8,000, Delpui four-bet to 30,000 and his opponent five-bet shoved for about 80,000. Delpui called. The aces held.

The turn brought them the {A-Clubs}, Lewis continued with a bet of 3,000, his opponent responded with a shove for the 16,700 he had behind. Lewis needed some time to consider his options as he would be left behind with about 7,000 if he lost the hand. In the end, he folded.

A German Update

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There aren't that many German players here in Marrakech but there are two that have traveled here together. Unfortunately, Fabian Gumz just busted when he ran his king-queen against the ace-king of his opponent and no help came from the cards.

Hannes Neurauter on the other hand, he just won a hand taking him to 100,000:

The player in the under-the-gun position raised to 2,000 and Neurauter three-bet to 5,500 from the hijack. Action folded to Anas Tadini in the big blind who called. The initial raiser also called.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-}, Tadini checked, the under-the-gun player bet 10,000. Neurauter called, Tadini folded.

The turn brought them the {4-Hearts}, Neurauter's opponent shoved for about 14,000 and Neurauter called. His opponent showed {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} while Naurauter was holding {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

The river completed the board with the {2-Hearts}, Neurauter's overpair held as his opponent missed the flush draw and he was sent to the rail.

Calamusa Doubles Up

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The pot already contained about 16,000 when the board read {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The player in the under-the-gun position had checked and Pierre Calamusa (early position) shoved for about 30,000. His opponent tanked for a few minutes but then threw one chip in to call. Calamusa tabled {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for a full house, sixes over fives. His opponent tried to muck his cards but the dealer told him he had to show when there is an all-in and call situation. Reluctantly he showed {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.
