Gavin Scoops Pot

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Lexy Gavin checked her option from the big blind after no initial raise and three players saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

Gavin lead out with 1,200 and was called by an early position player.

The {k-Spades} turn and {a-Diamonds} river was checked down.

Gavin tabled {5-Hearts}{3-Spades} for a pair of threes and scooped up a much-needed pot.

Ladies Hold for Alloggio

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

A big pot got underway after an early position player opened for 1,300 and Ben Alloggio three-bet to 4,500 sitting directly to his left.

Alloggio's bet was called by four players that included the initial raiser and the five players saw a {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop.

The small blind player lead out for 13,000 and the initial raiser moved all in for roughly 20,000. Action was on Alloggio who moved all in over the top for 36,000 and that was enough to get the remaining players out of the hand.

Ben Alloggio: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Alloggio had a made hand but still had to dodge any ace or club.

The turn fell the {8-Hearts} and Alloggio eliminated his opponent after improving his hand with the {q-Diamonds} river.

Steve Williams Wins Event #4: $400NLH One-Day for $19,742

The World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant $1,700 Main Event is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop.

For more than a week, a slew of side events has been playing out including Event #4: $400 NLH One-Day, a tournament that attracted 262 entrants and offered up a $86,460 prize pool.

“It feels good to have a ring, I love gambling. I didn’t think I was ever going to win. I got one, so it feels good.”

That’s what Steve Williams of Athens, Texas said late Sunday night when he finished as the last player standing to capture a $19,742 top prize and a WSOP gold ring.

One of his biggest hands came against WSOP Circuit ring winner Dennis Brand during three-handed play at the final table. Williams, a tax office owner, was all in preflop with {9-}{7-} and spiked a nine on the flop to overcome Brand’s Big Slick.

“The 9-7 hand, I just feel like every time you try and wait and wait on A-K or A-Q and then you get in there and the opponent comes-up with something,” Williams told WSOP officials. “It was a 9-7 of heart so I felt it was just a hand I could get in there and go with it. So, I just tried to raise and win and then he actually happened to have a big hand and call me, then I got lucky.”

Rockets Hold for Wieland in Three-Way All-In Action

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

Action on the table saw Carson Wieland raise to 2,000 on the button after three players limped into the pot. The big blind player called and one of the initial limpers three-bet to 7,500. Action folded back to Wieland who called, along with the big blind player.

The big blind player checked the {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop to the early position player who moved all in for his remaining stack. Wieland then jammed over the top and the big blind player called having both players covered.

Big Blind Player: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Carson Wieland: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
All-In Player: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Wieland was ahead with his rockets and liked the {3-Spades} turn, but still had to dodge many cards with one still to come.

Luckily the dealer would pair the board with the {9-Clubs} river and Wieland raked in a very healthy pot of 86,000.

Tryba Gets Paid After Turning a Staright Flush

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

A player from early position opened for 1,000 and had two callers including Chris Tryba from middle position.

The three players saw a {5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop and the initial raiser lead out with a 1,500 bet that was called by both his opponents.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and the initial raiser checked his option to the player on his left who bet 2,500. His bet was called by both Tryba and the initial raiser.

The river came the {9-Hearts} and the initial raiser checked his option again to the player on his left who bet 5,000. Action was on Tryba who raised to 12,000 and was called by his opponent after the initial player folded.

Both players held the same cards but Trybaturned the straight flush with {7-Spades}{6-Spades} while his opponent mucked {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} face up.

The World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant $1,700 Main Event is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop.

For more than a week, a slew of side events has been playing out including Event #3: $400 Congress, a tournament that drew 217 runners and created a $71,610 prize pool. For those that don’t know, “Congress” is a five-card Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo game, otherwise known as “Big O.”

Morton Davis, a 47-year-old Lions Poker Palace dealer from Houston, wound up the victor despite starting Day 2 near the bottom of the chip counts. He hit a few doubles and made the final table third in chips. It’d take nearly 11 hours before Davis closed it out for $17,212 and his first gold ring.

Davis, who also finished 58th in Event #1: $400 NLH Monster Stack, had this to say: “I like it here, a lot of action and a good field… I like Congress, it’s a good game and I’ve always been an Omaha player my whole life, I enjoy it. I’m glad to see the game is growing.”
