Day 1a of the $1,700 Main Event at Choctaw Casino Resort is officially in the books. The first of two starting flights saw 354 entries and at the end of play, only 59 players bagged with Russ Floyd leading the way with 481,000.

Second in chips and close behind Floyd is Scott Hall, who coasted throughout most of the day, accumulating his stack before winning two some big pots at the end of the night bagging a stack of 479,000.

Next in line is Sayed "PJ" Jafari who sits in third with just a few chips out the top spot with 478,000. As Steven Williams (462,000), andCraig Varnell (450,000) round up the top fives stacks.

Other than the top stacks, some notable players who also bagged for a Day 2 return include Will Berry (387,000), Vincent Moscati, (190,500), Brian Green (164,500), Allen Kessler (95,000).

Some notable players who did not advance from the first day include Anthony "Bart" Bogard, Chris Tryba, Daniel Lowery, Aaron Massey, Kyle Birdwell, and Dave Alfa.

The cutoff player opened for 13,000 and Kevin Duddlesten called from the small blind and the big blind player defended.

The {2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop was checked to the cutoff player who bet 17,000 and was called by Duddlesten.

Duddlesten checked the {3-Spades} turn to his opponent who fried out 26,000. Roberts called and the dealer completed the board with the {9-Diamonds} river.

Both players checked and Duddlesten tabled {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} and saw his opponent held the same hand with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

Four players saw a {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop and action was checked to Quinterol Mallette who bet 10,000 from the big blind. A late position player raised to 23,000 and got a fold from the other two players, while Mallette called.

Mallette checked the {k-Clubs} turn to his opponent who bet 25,000. Mallette check-raised all in and his opponent beat him to the pot.

Mallette had flopped top pair but was drawing dead to his opponents flopped set.

The board completed with the {3-Spades} on the river and Mallette sent 43,000 over to his opponent and left himself with 8,000 chips.
