Wagner's Big Slick Gets Tripped Up By Wazwaz

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

A blind-versus-blind battle saw a pot of 18,000 already built up, and the {3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} board was already on the felt. Rob Wazwaz bet 12,800 from the small blind, and Larry Wagner went deep into the tank in the big blind.

Wagner thought for around two minutes before tossing in a single chip to call, and Wazwaz flipped over {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for aces-up. Wagner showed his defeated {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, and sent around 80% of his remaining stack to Wazwaz.

Peppe Dispatches Mallette

Level 4 : 100/200, 200 ante

Quinterol Mallette jammed for his last 3,700 from early position, and Robert Peppe called in the small blind.

Quinterol Mallette: {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Robert Peppe: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Mallette found no help on the {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, but the {9-Spades} turn kept him alive with a gutshot. Peppe's set of nines held up on the {j-Spades} river, and Mallette headed to re-enter, finding himself back at the same table with Peppe.

Daciolas Welcomes Shin to the Table

Level 4 : 100/200, 200 ante

Ken Daciolas raised to 500 from under the gun, and Mike Shin, who just took his seat in the tournament, three-bet to 1,800 from middle position. The cutoff called, as did Daciolas.

Daciolas checked the {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop to Shin, who bet 2,500. The cutoff folded, and Daciolas called.

Both players checked the {6-Spades} turn, and Daciolas bet 5,000 on the {8-Spades} river. Shin called, and Daciolas tabled {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a flopped straight. Shin mucked.

Craig Trost Captures Second Gold Ring w/ Event #3: $600 NLH Victory

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is in Milwaukee to live report action the $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

Event #3: $600 No-Limit Hold’em attracted 87 runners who created a $44,805 prize pool. That was paid out to the top 14 players and among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Yer Vang (10th - $1,055), Daniel Sarullo (11th - $1,055), Nik Stone (12th - $1,055), Andres Garcia (13th - $935), and Ed Smith (14th - $935).

Craig Trost came into the final table with the chip lead and the 34-year-old from Madison, Wisconsin wound up the winner for $14,834 and his second gold ring.

“I want to say thank you to my very supportive wife. She is amazing and I love her very much,” Trost said with a smile on his face.

Making the experience even more special was that he was at the final table with a good friend of his.

“Jeff Minnerly is a good buddy of mine so it was really fun to make a final table with him as well,” said Trost. “Coming back to the final four, I knew all the guys were really good players. It was really fun playing with them because they are all such great guys which made it such an enjoyable experience.”
