The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is in Milwaukee to live report action the $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

One tournament that recently wrapped was the $135 buy-in Ladies Event, which attracted 55 runners and offered up a $5,500 prize pool.

That was paid out to the final table of nine players. Among those to cash were Louise Steglin (8th - $186), Robyn Jacobson (5th - $377), and Tracy Boone (4th - $523).

In the end, Robin Glaysher of Fort Worth, Texas defeated Illinois’ Jennifer Zenda in heads-up play to win the title for $1,846 and a gold ring.

Levin Extracts From Esquivel

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Matthew Levin raised to 35,000 from middle position, and was called by Michael Esquivel in the cutoff, and Natan Chaitin on the button.

Levin bet 43,000 on the {4-Spades}{a-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, and only Esquivel called.

The {7-Clubs} fell on the turn, and Levin bet 75,000. Esquivel quickly called.

Both players checked the {5-Diamonds} river. "Ace-jack," Levin said, tabling {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Esquivel mucked.

Chaitin Wins a Classic Flip, Siem Out

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Dennis Siem
Dennis Siem

Natan Chaitin raised to 31,000 from middle position, and Dennis Siem three-bet to 50,000 next to act. Chaitin four-bet shoved for 431,000, and Siem called.

Natan Chaitin: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Dennis Siem: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Chaitin found his ace on the {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop, and Siem was unable to catch up on the {j-Hearts} turn or {9-Clubs} river, leaving him with crumbs. A few hands later, he got his last 30,000 in preflop with {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, but was unable to catch up to the {a-Clubs}{7-Spades} of Richard Bai to bust.

Sladek's Queens Cracked by Queen-Nine

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Todd Sladek

James Karamanis jammed for 131,000 from the button, and Todd Sladek snap-called in the big blind.

James Karamanis: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Todd Sladek: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The table let out a groan after the {j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop gave Karamanis a straight, leaving Sladek looking for an ace or nine to chop the pot. The {8-Clubs} turn and {3-Spades} river bricked off, and Sladek sent most of his stack over to Karamanis. Sladek busted a few hands later.
