Jacquin the Leader

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Alex Jacquin
Alex Jacquin

Axel Jacquin didn't give up after losing {a-}{a-} against {k-}{k-} preflop for a huge pot five hours ago.

The French guy even took his revenge against his nemesis, Fred Rizzo. After a 4x raise under the gun from Rizzo was called four times, Axel squeezed from the big blind with {k-}{j-}. Rizzo and another player called and Rizzo was the only caller after a continuation bet of 6,000 chips in a 21,000 chips pot on a {j-}{3-}{4-} flop.

With 15,000 chips in front of him, Jacquin elected to change gear by checking the turn {8-}. Then he called when Rizzo pushed him all-in, doubling up after Rizzo has tabled {10-}{10-} and the dealer brought a safe river.

Jacquin then eliminated Giovanni Rosadonni by making a Full House on {9-}{3-}{3-} with nines. The WSOP Europe winner was punished after seeing a flop with {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Finally, minutes ago, Jacquin smooth-called with {8-}{8-} in the small blind to play a four-way pot and see a {8-Spades}{6-}{2-Spades} flop. Thierry Morel bet 3,000 chips and Jacquin called with his set and the big blind raised it to 11,000 chips, a move that didn't bother Morel who elected to raise to 35,000 chips.

Jacquin then shoved for 100,000 chips, making the big blind player fold. Thierry had another plan and called with {k-}{k-}, giving Jacquin ad huge pot, probably making him chipleader of the tournament at the end of Level 8.

Lucien Laigneau was in bad shape with {10-Spades}{4-Spades} but had one out for the straight flush. The third whell was also in contention to take that big pot with a Full House draw and quad draw with {6-}{6-} !

Rosadoni Doubles His Chips

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

First to act on a {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{q-} board, Giovanni Rosadoni fired a bet of 2,300 chips in the small blind. The under the gun player called and another player folded.

The dealer delivered a turn of {7-Hearts} and the WSOP Europe winner led out for a second time, this time for 3,900 chips. That bet was called and the {k-Spades} river completed the board.

Rosadonni checked and his opponent pushed all of his chips forward to set him all-in. The Frenchman snap-called with {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and got a very quick muck from his opponent before the dealer forced him to flash {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

Rosadoni is now above the starting stack.

Grech Climbing High

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Gregory Grech
Gregory Grech

Gregory Grech has won two tournaments since the beginning of May for a little more than €60,000 and his good run looks like it might continue here in Marrakech.

The Frenchman has eliminated an opponent in two hands to build a stack of 110,000 chips.

Grech's opponent limped under the gun and saw a player bet 1,400 chips from the hijack. On the button, Gregory fired a three-bet and was called by both players. After a continuation bet on {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, The hijack check-raised all-in and Grech called with {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The Frenchman was ahead against the flush draw of the player in the hijack, who tabled {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. The turn {6-Spades} and river {j-Spades} changed nothing and Grech was suddenly piling up a little more than 70,000 chips.

Less than ten minutes later, Grech was sat behind more than 100,000 chips. He's in the mood to aim for the very top of the chipcounts.
