Uselis Spikes an Ace to Double

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

A player raised from middle position to 1,000 before the cutoff three-bet to 4,000 and Gediminas Uselis shoved all-in for 5,200 forcing the original raiser out of the pot and the three-bettor called.

Cutoff: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Gediminas Uselis: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Uselis was behind to the pocket kings but things changed quickly when the flop came {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} giving his opponent only one-out which he couldn't catch on the {8-Diamonds} turn and the {10-Diamonds} river.

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the Main Event and High Roller, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant.

In Event #4: $600 PLO, 154 runners created a $79,310 prize pool that was paid out to the top 25 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Michael Perrone (11th - $1,375), Louis Barlow (14th - $1,168), Jacob Seale (16th - $1,020), Michael Le (18th - $1,020), and Lauren Bunch (24th - $425).

After placing seventh in this exact event last year, Matt Laessig rose to the occasion and claimed his first ring along with $20,773.

“Came here last year. Did my first Circuit event here last year. Had a blast,” mentioned Laessig. “Final tabled the PLO… Got busted seventh. Couple bad hands in a row and for the last year, I’ve been replaying it in my head.”

Laessig carved out his trip to Choctaw Durant and conquered. Going out a winner, he plans to return to his family and work in Austin, Texas on Monday

Carrolls' Full House is Good

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a board of {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Spades}{2-Spades} and roughly 14,500 in the middle Jim Carroll had bet 5,000 into his opponent. The opponent took about a minute while Caroll kept talking to him and he eventually made the call. Caroll tabled {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a full house and his opponent mucked. "That's how you own somebody with jack-nine," Caroll joked as he scooped the pot.

Johnson's Flush Gets Paid

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a board of {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, there was roughly 14,000 already brewed in the pot and the player first to act led out for 2,500. Charles Johnson put in two 5,000 chips to raise to 10,000 and his opponent went into the tank. "I've made worse calls." Said the opponent as he put in the chips to call.

Johnson tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for the nut-flush and his opponent mucked his hand.

Thornton Finds a Double

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

Steve Thornton shoved all-in from early position for 12,300 and the action folded around to the big blind who made the call.

Big blind: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Steve Thornton: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Thornton was ahead with his ace-high and the flopped only improved him when it came {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} giving him top pair. The {5-Clubs} on the turn meant Thornton had locked up a double and the {7-Spades} river was just a formality.
