Caballero's Set Is No Good

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Two players had all of their chips in the middle over on Table 21 and Gabriel Caballero was one of those players. He was disappointed to see the hands when they were tabled and his opponent was at risk for 13,800.

Gabriel Cabarello: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Diamonds} to give Cabarello a set of sevens and the lead. However, the {10-Diamonds} and {9-Spades} runout gave his opponent a straight and Cabarello was forced to send over a double up.

Merson Quickly Spins Up a Stack

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Greg Merson
Greg Merson

It was just moments after Greg Merson took his seat on Day 1b that he had already nearly doubled his starting stack. His early heater wasn't over yet when four players saw a flop for 1,000 apiece. The flop came {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the action checked to the preflop raiser who bet 2,000 and only Merson called from the cutoff.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and Merson was faced with another bet of 3,500 which he called again. The {9-Spades} double-paired the board on the river and the action was checked to Merson this time. He tossed in a bet of 6,000 and his opponent looked him up. Merson flipped over {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the best full house to claim another pot.

Not Fair for Belmonte

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

After a couple of preflop raises, Michael Belmonte and David Fair got all of their chips in the middle. Belmonte was the player at risk for just under 15,000 chips and was in rough shape when the cards were tabled.

David Fair: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Michael Belmonte: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The flop came {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} to give Belmonte a straight draw along with his one overcard. However, the {7-Diamonds} and {6-Clubs} runout was not going to cut it and his chips were sent across the table to Fair.

Jenkins Forces a Fold from Salazar

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Three players were in the pot on a flop of {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} and the action checked to Mauricio Salazar in the cutoff who bet 1,000. The big blind folded and June Jenkins check-raised to 5,000 from the hijack which Salazar called.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Jenkins shipped all in for 25,000. Salazar gave it some thought but decided to send his cards to the muck and Jenkins scooped the pot.

Power of the Check-Raise

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante

Mihails Morozovs raised it up to 700 in middle position and was called by Ronnie Bardah in the cutoff and Emerick Wiatrek in the big blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Waitrek checked to Morozovs who continued for 1,100. Both Bardah and Wiatrek called to see the {5-Clubs} on the turn.

Wiatrek checked again and Morozovs tossed in a bet of 2,500. Bardah called and Wiatrek check-raised to 8,000. Morozovs quickly called and Bardah let his hand go. The {7-Clubs} completed the board and Wiatrek fired in a bet of 15,000. Morozovs went into the tank for over two minutes before finally ditching his cards in the muck.

"The check-raise is so powerful," one player at the table said. "Doesn't matter when."
