Cartwright Over 2 Million

Level 24 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Chad Smith opened to 55,000 in the hijack and Kyle Cartwright called on the button. The two players saw a flop of {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Smith continued for 55,000. Cartwright called and the {8-Hearts} rolled off on the turn.

Smith checked this time and Cartwright tossed in a bet of 110,000. Smith called and the {k-Spades} landed on the river. Smith chose to lead out this time for 225,000 only to have Cartwright announce all in. Smith looked back at his cards and then slid them to the muck.

"Hand of the day," Cartwright announced to the table. He showed {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a set of eights, the fourth set of eights at that table today.

Kelvin Douglas Eliminated in 17th Place ($7,536)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Hyun Lee raised it up from under the gun and was called by one player before Kelvin Douglas pushed all in for 140,000 in the big blind. Lee re-shoved all in and the two hands were face up.

Hyun Lee: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Kelvin Douglas: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Douglas was in a good position to double up and the flop of {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} improved his odds even more. However, the {a-Hearts} on the turn paired Lee's ace and the {6-Spades} on the river sent Douglas to the payout desk.

Blake Whittington Eliminate din 18th Place ($7,536)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Blake Whittington
Blake Whittington

The action folded to Blake Whittington who shipped all in for his last 190,000 in the hijack. Walker Miskelly re-shoved all in from the small blind and the two hands were tabled.

Walker Miskelly: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Blake Whittington: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}

Whittington had two live cards but the flop of {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} whiffed him. The turn was the {a-Clubs} to give Miskelly a pair of aces and Whittington was left drawing dead to the {6-Spades} on the river.

Easy Come, Easy Go

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Michael McKuin doubled up his short stack with pocket jacks against the ace-king of Greg Jennings. The flop brought a king and a jack, putting McKuin comfortably in the lead and he held on for a double up.

Moments later, McKuin opened to 60,000 in early position and Bryan Piccioli shoved all in for 315,000 on his left. The action folded back to McKuin who snapped him off.

Bryan Piccioli: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Michael McKuin: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and Piccioli's ace-high was good enough to double through McKuin.

Massive Double Up Sends Cartwright Into the Lead

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Kyle Cartwright
Kyle Cartwright

Kyle Cartwright and Kelvin Douglas were heads-up in a pot with the flop reading {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}. With around 200,000 in the middle already, Douglas check-called a bet from Cartwright to see the {j-Clubs} on the turn.

Douglas checked again and Cartwright moved all in for 620,000. Douglas asked for a count but eventually made the call. Cartwright turned over {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a set of eights while Douglas was drawing to two outs with {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}. The river brought the {2-Hearts} and Cartwright held on for a massive double up into the chip lead.

Meruga and Corda Eliminated, Down to 2 Tables

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

In the first hand after the dinner break, Bryan Piccioli eliminated Shanmukha Meruga who was the shortest stack left in the field. Meruga shoved for just over 100,000 with {a-}{j-} and was called by the {a-Clubs}{10-} of Piccioli. Piccioli made Broadway on the turn and Meruga was eliminated.

Shortly after, Jacob Corda pushed all in for 220,000 from under the gun and Kyle Cartwright re-shoved all in for 430,000 in the cutoff. The rest of the table folded and the cards were tabled.

Kyle Cartwright: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Jacob Corda: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Cartwright's pocket nines held up to eliminate Corda. The final 18 players will now redraw for seats at two tables.
