Schneider Doubles Through Ataoglu

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Picking up the action on the {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, Anil Ataoglu had bet 6,500 from under the gun and Andre Schneider then moved all-in for 89,600. Other potentially involved players were already out of the way as Ataoglu was in the think tank and tossed in calling chips after around two minutes.

Andre Schneider: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Anil Ataoglu: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The {5-Clubs} turn gave Ataoglu even more outs but he bricked them all on the {q-Hearts} river for Schneider to double.

Drozd Wins Sizeable Pot

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

There was 46,500 in the middle pre-flop after Ondrej Drozd three-bet to 15,000 which was called by Kestutis Jungevicius and Rama Mulaj. Drozd continued for 10,000 after a flop of {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Jungevicius folded, Mulaj hung around with a call. Both players checked when the {7-Clubs} fell on the turn.

Drozd turned the heat up when the {k-Hearts} hit the river with a bet of 28,000. Mulaj promptly folded allowing Drozd to drag in a 50,000+ pot

Urodlovchenko Eliminated by Konsek

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Three ways to the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, Stanislav Urodlivchenko checked out of the big blind and the same also applied for Jaroslaw Konsek in the under-the-gun position. Aylar Lie then bet 3,500 in the cutoff only for Urodlivchenko to jam for what appeared to be 51,000. Konsek called without asking for an exact count and Lie folded.

Stanislav Urodlivchenko: {9-Spades}{3-Spades}
Jaroslaw Konsek: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

Urodlivchenko needed a nine to stay alive in the competition but bricked the {5-Hearts} turn and {10-Spades} river.

Two Barrels Are Enough for Gulas

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Josef Gulas opened the action with a button raise and Mario Colavita defended the big blind. The {q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop was checked to Gulas and he continued for 6,000 to pick up a call by Colavita. After the {2-Diamonds} turn, Colavita checked once more and Gulas increased his bet sizing to make it 17,000 to go.

This time, Colavita surrendered to the aggression and sent his cards into the muck.

Assorted Counts in the Field

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On a completed board of {q-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Zhong Chen was all-in for 31,700 in the small blind and that sent Stephanie Agostinetti into the tank. She gave it plenty of thought but eventually released her cards into the muck.

Chen sweeped the pot to climb back after the starting stack while Agostinetti dropped below the average.

Recent Batch of Casualties

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

More than half of the Day 1a field has already been eliminated as 116 players out of 255 entries remain. That also includes Pierre Neuville, who will almost certainly be back for Day 1b.

Morgenstern Felted by Chaitas

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Ioannis Chaitas recently lost some chips but he got some of them back soon after. The open raise by Chaitas triggered the three-bet shove by Anton Morgenstern in the big blind for the last 21,600 and Chaitas instantly called.

Anton Morgenstern: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Ioannis Chaitas: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

The {j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop brought a glimpse of hope but there was no miracle on the {k-Diamonds} turn and {q-Diamonds} river, as the aces held for Chaitas.

Two Barrels Are Enough for Kopyl

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Waldemar Kopyl raised it up to 2,500 and earned a call from Sangguk Im from one seat over. Clement Cure also came along out of the big blind and the trio headed to the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop. Cure checked to the initial raiser, who continued for 3,000.

Two calls later, the {3-Spades} appeared on the turn and Cure checked once more. Kopyl now bet 12,000 and that was enough to win the pot right there without any resistance.

Muric Mourns Dreadful River

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Duc Quy Nguyen and Murahem Muric headed to the {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} turn on which the former got the last 37,000 in with some 35,000 in the middle. Muric gave it plenty of consideration and eventually made the call with the superior stack.

Duc Quy Nguyen: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Muharem Muric: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Muric was way ahead with the superior pair and nut flush draw. However, the dreadful {6-Spades} fell on the river to give Nguyen a straight for the double.
