Double Knockout for Karoui

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Rifat Gegic
Rifat Gegic

In a preflop all-in contest, the chips of Ilhan Soenmez from under the gun, Moncef Karoui on the button and Rifat Gegic in the small blind all went into the middle. Karoui had both opponents covered but only the second-best hand heading into the following showdown.

Ilhan Soenmez: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Rifat Gegic: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Moncef Karoui: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and Karoui rivered a set of kings to score a double knockout.

Strauch Rises; El Ghanim Re-Enters

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Michael Strauch has nearly half a million in chips while former big stack Abd El Ghanim was ousted with a top ten stack within 40 minutes and subsequently re-entered. Further early casualties can be found below.

Savio Chips Up Against Broinkhorst

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Steve Savio
Steve Savio

Heads-up to the {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} turn, Steve Savio opted to check and then called a bet worth 20,000 by Jan Bronkhorst. The {2-Spades} on the river saw both players knuckle the felt and Savio's {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} were good enough to win the pot.

Quads for Campanile

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Enrico Campanile
Enrico Campanile

In a battle of the blinds, Krisztian Kis bet the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Spades} turn small and called a raise to 12,000 by Enrico Campanile. Kis checked the {10-Clubs} river and Campanile pushed forward a stack of T-5,000 chips. With just 46,000 behind, Kis mulled over his decision for a while and eventually called.

Campanile tabled the {7-Hearts}{5-Spades} for quads and Kis' {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} were only briefly exposed.

Mosesvili Eliminated by Madani

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Pikria Mosesvili was at risk for just under the starting stack with the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and in prime shape against Said Madani with the {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. However, the {10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} turn left her drawing dead and the {q-Hearts} river was a formality.

Early Eliminations and Re-Entries on Day 2

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Albanese and Tabacaru Eliminated

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Natale Albanese
Natale Albanese

With already 90,000 in the middle to the {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, Laviniu David pushed all-in with the superior stack. Natale Albanese tanked for a brief while and then called it off for the 56,500 he had behind.

Natale Albanese: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Laviniu David: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The {3-Diamonds} turn gave some chop outs but the {10-Hearts} river was a blank. "Almost king-nine," David joked to Martin Kabrhel.

One hand later, David opened the button to 4,500 and Kabrhel three-bet to 19,000. Ion Tabacaru four-bet jammed from the big blind for 53,000 and David checked the stack of Kabrhel before folding, while the Czech instantly called.

Ion Tabacaru: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Martin Kabrhel: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Tabacaru was ahead on the {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop and {2-Diamonds} but the dreadful ace came on the {a-Clubs} river. "I play good, write it down," Kabrhel said in table chat.

Refos Knocks Out Schmidt

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Heads-up to the {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, Raoul Refos in the blinds and Sven Schmidt invested 6,000 each. Refos checked the {3-Clubs} turn and Schmidt jammed for 35,000. The Dutchman asked for a count and called.

Schmidt already leaped out of his seat before revealing the {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, and he had two outs against Refos' {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. The miracle never happened on the {k-Diamonds} river and that spelled the end for Schmidt.

Fichera Scores a Double

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The cards were already on their backs with Giuseppe Fichera at risk for 48,500 with the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Frederik Thiemer had the superior stack but only held {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. After a board of {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, Fichera had the check mark on the turn already.
