Sperling Check-Raises Turn and Shoves River

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Fabio Sperling raised to 2,000 and Donald Jones called. Beihoo Wang also called, as did Gilon Colin in the big blind.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Colin checked, Sperling checked, and Jones bet 5,000. Action folded to Sperling, who reraised to 10,300. Jones called.

The turn was the {8-Hearts}. This time, Sperling led out for 12,000, maximizing pressure on a very draw heavy board. Jones shook his head before almost reluctantly chucking chips in the middle.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Sperling shoved all in. Jones made the fold.

Richard Horton: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Luigi Viscomi: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Houghton shouted for his hand as the board fell {6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} but he couldn't improve. Horton and Viscomi chopped the pot and Houghton was eliminated.

Set of Nines For Hicks Decimates Foggin

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Nick Hicks
Nick Hicks

Nick Hicks raised to 2,000 from the cutoff, Marc Foggin called on the button, and the small and big blind both came along.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Action checked to Hicks, who bet out for 3,200. Foggin raised to 12,000 and the players in the blinds both folded. Hicks took a sip of his drink and looked across the table before making the call.

The turn came the {9-Diamonds}. Hicks checked and Foggin moved all in. Hicks quickly called. Foggin showed {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for two pair and Hicks flipped over {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a turned set.

At that point, Foggin left the table thinking he was out, but was called back to the tables, still with a few thousand behind. Hicks scooped a huge pot and moved to well above 100,000 in chips.

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Simon Higgins
Simon Higgins

Vladim Gercev raised from the hijack and Simon Higgins reshoved from the small blind for around 24,000. Gercev took a moment and then made the call. Players flipped their cards, with Higgins at risk.

Simon Higgins: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Vladim Gercev: {k-Spades}{5-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Gercev caught a pair of fives on the flop to win the hand, sending Higgins out of the tournament.

"Not sure about that one," said Higgins as he left.

Hoang Doubles Up With Queens

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Keith Hoang
Keith Hoang

Picking up the action on the flop, Keith Hoang and Anthony Brown were involved in an inflated pot after preflop raises.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Hoang led for 4,000 and Brown called. The turn was the {4-Diamonds}. Hoang bet again for 6,500, a decent chunk of his stack.

The river was the {2-Diamonds}. Hoang moved all in for 13,200. Brown thought for a while but, at this stage in the hand, had decent odds to make the call, which he did. Hoang showed {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for an overpair and got the double up.

O'Brien Eliminates Saulinskis

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
James O'Brien
James O'Brien

Leo Worthington-Leese raised to 1,200 from early position and picked up several calls. Astijus Saulinskis moved all in and James O'Brien was the only player who made the call. The cards were flipped.

Astijus Saulinskis: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
James O'Brien: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Saulinskis found himself dominated and far behind with his tournament life at stake. The board ran out {2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Spades}{a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. The queen on the flop paired up both players and the ace on the turn gave O'Brien top two pair. Saulinskis was eliminated from the tourney.
