There was a pot of about 23,000 in the middle as action was joined on the river. The board showed 8♦7♣4♣A♥3♣.
Douglas Floyd James bet 8,000 from the cutoff. Pietro Leone tossed in a raised to 25,000 from early position. James quickly folded as he was left with a short stack.
Christopher Tran three-bet from the hijack to 3,600. Khaled Aljoma had been the initial raiser and called the three-bet from middle position.
The flop came 4♠8♦J♦. Tran continued for 3,600 and Aljoma raised to 9,000. Tran then three-bet all in for 37,300. Aljouma thought for a bit and got the count before eventually calling.
Christopher Tran: K♥K♦
Khaled Aljoma: 5♦4♦
Tran's overpair of kings was ahead but he would need to fade the flush draw of Aljoma. The turn zoomed Aljoma ahead but in the unexpected was as the 4♣ came off to give him trips. The river was the 9♣ to send Tran to the rail as a few players commented on how well Aljoma continued to run early in Day 1.
Action was joined on the river as the board read 2♠10♦Q♥8♠2♥. Nick Skotidakis and William Savage were battling in yet another pot as Skotidakis fired 7,000. Savage called after a few moments.
Skotidakis tabled the 2♦2♣ for quad deuces as a few players said "Wow".
"Well I was right that you didn't have a queen" joked Savage as he saw his chips carved away.
