Hammann found a favorable flop in the form of 8♥5♥3♠, picking up straight and flush possibilities.
Hammann hit a pair of fours on the 4♣ turn, and improved further to the ace-high flush when the 9♥ completed the board.
Arossi started the day as chip leader, but had to settle for a third-place finish. The Main Event was now down to heads-up.

Geiger was up out of his seat as the dealer fanned out the 10♦7♠5♠ flop, giving Hammann an even bigger advantage with top pair.
Geiger found a lot of outs when the 9♠ came on the turn as he picked up a flush draw.
However, the A♣ on the river to give him top pair wasn't good enough as Hammann won the pot with aces-up.
Hammann's stack grew to back over twenty million, while Geiger was the fourth-place finisher of the Main Event.
Neculai Macovei completed from the small blind with A♦Q♦ before Benjamin Hammann raised to 1,200,000 with A♣10♠ in the big blind. Macovei called to see a flop.
Macovei knuckled it over to Hammann on the 2♥2♠10♥ flop, and Hammann quickly bet 950,000. Macovei called.
A 3♥ on the turn saw Macovei check-fold to Hammann's double barrel of 2,800,000.

Both players were happy to check down the J♣ turn and A♠ river. Macovei showed K♣10♠ for second pair, which won him the pot as Hammann mucked Q♠J♥ for a pair of jacks.

Macovei fired a small bet of 650,000 on the 3♦6♥6♣ flop. Hammann came along with a call.
A second barrel came from Macovei when he saw the 5♦ on the turn, choosing the amount of 1,700,000. Again, Hammann called.
When the 2♣ completed the board, Macovei bet around 3,700,000 with less than a big blind behind. Hammann burned through a couple of time banks before coming to the conclusion that a fold was best, and he gave up the pot to Macovei.
Florian Geiger raised to 500,000 under the gun and only Benjamin Hammann called from the big blind.
Hammann chose to lead out for a bet of 250,000 on the 9♣6♥9♦ flop. Geiger called.
Another lead out for 250,000 came from Hammann when he saw the 5♠ on the turn. Again, Geiger just called.
Hammann elected to check the 10♠ river, and Geiger took the opportunity to place out a tiny bet of his own, choosing 350,000.
Hammann thought briefly and then said, "A gift, I know I lose". Hammann then called and was shown K♠K♦ by Geiger.
This won Geiger the pot, as Hammann mucked J♦8♦ for a pair of eights.
