A Well Oiled Machine

As we near the halfway point of Day 1 here in Tunica, it would be all but impossible to overlook how smoothly this event has been run up to this point. From the on-time scheduled start, to the calculated pausing and resuming of play for breaks, to the efficient consolidation of tables, the tournament directors and floorpersons in charge here in Tunica, who have an often times "thankless " job regularly taking blame, and seldom receiving credit, deserve a pat on the back for one of the most well run tournaments in recent memory.

It was a short day for 2006 USPC Champion Alex Jacob. A short-stacked Jacob was all in preflop in the small blind holding Q-7. Unfortunately for Jacob, his big blind opponent had him dominated with K-7. The {K-Spades} on the flop sealed Jacob's fate and he made a graceful and sportsman-like exit.

Josh Arieh Takes a Hit

With the board reading {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and 3 players in the hand, Josh Arieh made a standard bet. One player called and a 3rd player moved all in for just over 11,000 chips. Arieh contemplated briefly and then made the call. The third player verbally declared "fold" and mucked the {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} face up. Upon seeing these cards, Arieh winced in dissapointment. The all in player turned over {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} which was ahead of Arieh's {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. The turn and river were no help to the Atlanta native and he is now down to about 18,000.
