Edler Hanging by a Thread

Bill Edler
Bill Edler
A super short-stacked Bill Edler just managed to double up and gain a little extra breathing room, after getting all of his chips into the middle holding {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} against an opponent's red tens.

"That's what I was hoping for," Edler said before the dealer spread the flop.
The table oohed and awed when the flop came {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, giving Edler top pair, but also giving his opponent an open ended straight draw, which he managed to hit when the turn brought the {7-Spades}.

Edler had two outs to a bigger straight with one card to go, and sure enough, the {10-Spades} fell on the river to lock it up for Bill. Edler stacked up just over 3,000 chips after the hand.

J.J. Liu Eliminated

J.J. Liu
J.J. Liu
A short-stacked J.J. Liu has just been eliminated from the tournament. She ran her pocket sixes into the pocket queens of a player known to his friends as "Duff."

All of the money went in pre-flop and J.J. was unable to spike the six she needed to stay alive.

The aforementioned "Duff" told us that they keep his real name a secret.

Rebound

Moments after sending a good chunk of his stack across the table to an opponent, Tom Schneider replenished his chips and then some after taking down a big pot of his own.

On a flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, the small blind led out with a 1,000 bet. The big blind called, as did Schneider. The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and this time it was the big blind who led the betting, firing 1,775 into the middle. Schneider made the call and the small blind got out of their way.

The last card off the deck was the {Q-Spades} and the big blind upped the ante to 3,175. Schneider then removed his headphones and repositioned his sunglasses to the top of his head while considering his decision - a big one, at that. If Schneider called and lost he would've been left with approximately 6,000 in chips.

A solid minute passed before Schneider made the call and his opponent asked, "You got a ten?" Tom nodded, revealing {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}. "Nice hand," his opponent said, as he mucked {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds} face-up on the table.

Ironically, the same two hands were shown on the hand in which Tom lost to a rivered straight.

Schneider Takes a Hit

Tom Schneider

On a board showing {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, Tom Schneider found himself well ahead of his opponent's {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, holding {A-Spades}{10-Spades} when all the money went in.

Unfortunately for Schneider, the {7-Spades} fell on the river, giving his opponent a jack-high straight to win the hand. Schneider lost approximately 7,000 chips in the hand.

Tournament Tidbits

J.C. Tran has just been moved to Chris Ferguson's table and both have substantial chip stacks.

Hans 'Tuna' Lund seems to be floating right around the 10,000 starting stack.

Aaron Kanter and Scott Clements are at the same table; Kanter currently has upwards of 25,000 in chips while Clements is still hanging in there with just under 4,000.

The players have returned from break, their hands a bit greasier from the break-time grub, and the cards - those poor cards - are in the air.

15-Minute Break

The tournament clock has been paused while the players take a 15-minute break. Harveys' staff has provided pizza and hot dogs for the players and the line to the food is already quite impressive.
