Ferguson Eliminates Banducci; Increases Chip Lead

Michael Banducci - 6th Place Finisher
Michael Banducci - 6th Place Finisher
In what turned out to be the biggest hand of the tournament thus far, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson has just eliminated Michael Banducci from the main event, further increasing his chip lead over the rest of the pack.

Action folded around to Ferguson in the cutoff and he opened for a 17,000 raise. Banducci made the call from the button and the two were heads-up going into the flop.

The first three cards off the deck came {6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Ferguson checked to Banducci, who took a stab at the pot with a 24,000 bet; Ferguson made the call.

The turn brought the {J-Diamonds} and this time it was Ferguson who started the betting, firing a 55,000 bullet into the middle. Banducci then opted to move all in over the top of Chris' bet, prompting the man they call 'Jesus' to plop into the tank.

Chris leaned back in his chair, staring intently at the board while considering his decision. He then cut the additional 83,500 chips it would cost him to call from his mammoth-sized stack and sat up in his chair, elbows propped up on the table. With a subtle shrug of his shoulders, Chris slid the chips into the middle and tabled the {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}; Banducci showed the {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for top pair.

Chris would need to hit an ace, a queen or a diamond on the river to take down the pot, and when the {A-Clubs} fell on the river, that was all she wrote for Banducci.

The win further increased Ferguson's chip stack over the field and he now has somewhere in the ballpark of 650,000 in chips. Banducci would take home $33,223 in prize money for his 6th place finish.
