Jacob Survives a Scare

On a board showing {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, Alex Jacob moved all in for his last (approx.) 6,000 holding pocket kings. After quite some time in the tank, his opponent made the call. When it was time to turn over the cards, Alex revealed his kings, which prompted his opponent to nudge his cards toward the muck, face down.

"Muck his cards," said a third party seated across from Alex.

"He mucked. Take his cards," added Ted Lawson, also at the table.

A floorperson was eventually called to the table and he ruled that the cards must be turned face-up. "Even if he buried them deep in the muck, I'd have to go in and dig them out," he explained.

When all was said and done, Jacob's opponent turned over {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}, giving him the nut flush draw and one overcard. Forced into a sweat, Jacob exhaled a deep breath in relief after the river delivered the {7-Hearts}.

Jacob stacked up just over 20,000 in chips with the win.
