Seidel insta-called and turned over 4-5 for the straight, while his opponent was making a move with A-J. Only a five on the river would chop up the pot, but instead a four hit and Seidel pushed his stack up to 17,500.
Barry Greenstein eliminated Billy Baxter on one of those hands you run into sometimes. Greenstein held A-J, Baxter A-2, and here's how the flop came down: A-J-2. Any hopes Baxter may have had to get away from the hand disappeared when another Ace fell on the turn, giving both players Aces full.
When asked about the hand Greenstein shrugged and said, "He got cold-decked."
Honestly, don't these people have a clock. Actually...they probably don't. Anyway, Sam Farha, Vanessa Rousso and John Phan have taken their seats. Maybe it pays to show up late--Phan is up to 20K and Chris Ferguson stands with 18,000.
And showing up late doesn't seem to hurt Phil Hellmuth. Who hasn't been sighted. Yet.
Time to relax
It has been a long couple of weeks, and it is starting to take it's toll on some of the players. There are a number of massuers on hand and their services are being utilized today. The stacks are deep, the levels are long and the play is slow so why not take time out to relax a while?
Blackjack turned poker player "Hollywood" Dave Stann almost made a premature exit when he started walking away from the table after his opponent catches a set on the turn verses Dave's two-pair. He didn't see that the river card gave him a flush and had to be called back to the table.
Freddy Deeb
After a flop Freddy Deeb raised to his opponent to 1,400 and was re-raised to 3,400. As Deeb tried to decide what to do other players at the table kept talking about the previous hand. Deeb asked them for some quiet while he considered his play but the discussion went on. And on. And on.
Deeb angrily got up from the table and said, "When you're done talking I'll come back," and walked away from the table. The dealer eventually mucked Deeb's hand and he hasn't yet returned.
Mary Jones won the 2006 Ladies' Title and she's currently at a table with Hasan Habib, Phil Laak and Dutch Boyd. She just lost a sizable pot when Boyd went runner-runner to make a club flush, boosting his stack to 12,000 and bringing Jones' back down to the 10,000 she started with.
