Early Chip Leader

One way to build up a big stack early on is to bust someone else who builds a big stack early on, and that's what Joe Rutledge did when he eliminated Steve Cone, who had been sitting with nearly 9,000 in chips. Rutledge now has a 24,000 stack.

Mickey "Mouse" Mills Ties WSOP Record

Mickey Mills showed up about 50 minutes late for the tournament today, and has tied the all-time WSOP record for fewest hands being dealt to while at the table in a tournament...with one. Mickey had not even put his bag down when he looked at his hand. 45 seconds later, he picked his bag back up, and was out of the tournament. Mickey graciously told his opponent, "Nice hand" as he left the Amazon room.

Leading the League in Floor Calls

The sheer number of calls for floor people this WSOP has not been that bad this year. Players and dealers seem to be getting along better this year, and the number of times you hear "FLOOR!" has gone way down.

But today, this is Pot-Limit Omaha, and many players are unfamiliar with the calculations and prodedures of PLO, so we have been hearing that floor call sound much more than we have for the past 13 days we have been here, and the tournament is only 60 minutes old.
