No Book Deal This Hand

Barry Greenstein, known for giving away a signed copy of his book to whomever knocks him out of a tournament, just proved why those books are so hard to come by.

Barry had the {3-Spades} showing against three other players. After catching the {9-Clubs} on 4th street, Barry led out and everyone called. 5th street brought the {9-Hearts} and after betting, Barry found himself raised by a player showing {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Barry called and only one other player did as well. 6th street gave Barry the {A-Spades}, he checked but the same opponent bet out and both Barry and the other opponent in the hand called. Barry checked on 7th street, was bet into, then check-raised and was called.

Barry turned over the full house, 9s full of 3s, and his opponent mucked.

Doing His Own Commentary

ESPN's poker commentator Norman Chad just got tangled up in a hand with professional Vince Burgio. Chad was facing a bet on 6th street and said very succinctly, "I can't beat your low . . . and I can't beat your high no matter what I catch . . . I better fold." The table got a good laugh out of it and Mr. Burgio stacked a nice pot.

Negreanu Earns Some Chips

With the {7-Clubs} showing, Daniel Negreanu bet out and had three callers. Catching a {3-Clubs} on the turn, and facing all low cards, Daniel continued to bet and get called down until 5th street when his opponent spiked the {A-Diamonds}. His opponent bet into him, all other players folded, and Daniel made the call. Negreanu showed two-pair, sevens and eights, while his opponent made a 6-low.
