Ayaz Mahmood In Good Shape

Ayaz Mahmood has just picked up a nice pot. He raised to 2,200 from early position and was called by the cutoff.

The flop of {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} was checked by both players, and when the board paired jacks on the turn with the {J-Clubs}, Ayaz bet out 3,000.

The cutoff raised to 7,000 and Ayaz made the call.

The river was the {J-Spades} and both players checked, Ayaz showed {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and the cutoff mucked.

Phil Gordon Sends Another One Home

Phil Gordon
Phil Gordon
A short-stacked player moved all in preflop for his last 6,500. Action folded around to Phil Gordon who instantly announced "I call." Gordon flipped up {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} which had his opponent wincing as he turned over {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Gordon made a set when the {9-Hearts} hit the turn and with no flush or straight outs, Gordon's opponent was drawing dead. With that pot, Phil Gordon now has 44,000 chips.

Katja Thater Eliminated

Katja Thater Eliminated
Katja Thater Eliminated
All in preflop for her last 9,375, Katja was in bad shape with her {10-Diamonds}{J-Spades} dominated by her opponent's {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

She picked up a few outs on the flop of {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{2-Hearts}.

The turn {2-Diamonds} and river {A-Hearts} were not the queen she was looking for.

Bernard Lee Does Last Longer

Bernard Lee just lost half his stack, then regained it on the very next hand.

In the first pot he raised his opponent's 7,000 flop bet to 15,000 and then released his hand when he was reraised another 10,000. After this hand he was down to 16,000 and one of the other players at the table offered him a last-longer bet.

The next hand saw him all in, holding {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} against {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and the rockets held up, putting his stack staight back to where it was.

He should have taken the bet.

The Shark is Coming!

Humberto Brenes celebrates his victory with pocket kings
Humberto Brenes celebrates his victory with pocket kings
ESPN cameras surrounded Humberto Brenes's table as he stood up from his chair, hoisting his pocket kings high into the air. "Who has the kings? I am the King!!!" Humberto said, after calling an opponent's preflop all-in bet; his opponent showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

The board filled out {5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Humberto celebrated wildly as his opponent sat grimacing, waiting to find out whether or not Humberto had him completely covered; he indeed did.

"The shark is cooooming!" Brenes proclaimed, as he open and closed his arms, mimicking the jaws of a shark.

Brenes stacked up just over 50,000 worth of chips after the hand.

Kristy Gazes Has Been Eliminated

Action folded around to the cutoff who raised to 1,500. Kristy Gazes, moved all in for 5,875 on the button and both blinds called. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. The small blind moved all in and the big blind folded. The players turned their hands up...

Gazes: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Gazes needed help if she was going to see another hand in this year's Main Event. The turn was the {9-Hearts} putting Gazes in a position to, at best, chop the pot. The river paired the board and Gazes headed to the rail.
