Rehne Pedersen Doubles the Easy Way

Rehne Pedersen just doubled up when he moved all in from middle position for 11,000 and got looked up by the button. Pedersen was happy to show his {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} much to the dismay of the button who was dominated with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. A queen flopped, but Pedersen's aces were still good at showdown. Pedersen is now working with 23,000 in chips.

The "Dark Checker" Should Be Renamed "Weak Kicker"

Two players limp from middle position, Lee Watkinson raises from the cutoff to 3,600, one player folds, and the other calls. Watkinson's opponent checks in the dark before the flop brings {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Watkinson bets 5,000, and his opponent calls, and then checks in the dark again.

The turn card pairs the board with the {10-Hearts}, and Watkinson checks behind the dark check.

The river card is the {9-Clubs}, and the player known as the Dark Checker bets out for 4,000. Watkinson calls, showing {A-Spades}{K-Spades} for top pair, top kicker, and his opponent mucks, saying he also had an ace.

Watkinson won the pot, increasing his stack to 110,000.

Andy Goetsch Eliminated

All in preflop holding {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, Andy was in a race against his opponent's {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. A very short, brutal race.

The flop came {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} to give Andy's opponent quads and dash Andy's hopes.

The turn and river gave some small consolation to Andy, {K-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}. At least Andy can say he was knocked out holding an ace-high straight.

Chau Giang Has Been Eliminated

Chau Giang Says Goodbye
Chau Giang Says Goodbye
Chau Giang was just sent home when he took his K-10 against the {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} of his opponent. Giang was a slight favorite going in, but was drawing dead on the flop when it came out all diamonds. Chau Giang is yet another Day 1c casualty.

Bernard Lee Takes A Small Hit

Bernard Lee Takes A Hit

After a the turn card put a board of {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts} out there, Bernard called his opponent's all-in bet of 17,500.

Bernard had {5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for an up-and-down staight draw, while his opponent had {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a set of ducks.

The {8-Hearts} on the river was no good for Bernard and his stack is back down to less than 40,000.

Amnon Filippi Eliminates Two Players

Two more players were just sent home early, courtesy of Amnon Filippi. Filippi held K-J and was slightly behind the A-Q and A-9 of his all-in opponents. The {K-Spades} on the flop put Amnon into the lead, and he kept that lead through the river. Filippi increased his chip stack to about 66,000.

Kenna James vs. Amnon Filippi

Amnon Filippi
Amnon Filippi
Kenna James limps from early position for 600, along with a few other players, and Amnon Filippi raises from the small blind to 3,000. The big blind folds, and James reraises to 11,000. The other limpers all fold, and Filippi ponders the call for several minutes. He finally calls by tossing in another 8,000 in chips.

The flop comes {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Spades}, and both players check. The turn card is the {3-Clubs}, Filippi checks, and James slowly checks behind him. The river card is the {Q-Diamonds}, and Filippi starts sizing up his own chip stack. He says, "You can't check aces all the way down. No way. You have ace-king?"

Filippi studies James for a moment and then bets 16,000, leaving himself about 6,500 behind. James looks at Filippi and reluctantly folds, saying, "You hit three queens."

Filippi flashes his cards to someone before he mucks, and James asks the dealer to see the cards. Filippi says it's alright, and the dealer flips over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Filippi rivered a set.

After the hand, Kenna James is down to about 24,000, while Amnon Filippi is up to about 52,500.

Moneymaker tossed in his cards and is now down to 18,000 chips.

Al Krux: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
