Tommy Vinas Eliminated in 35th Place ($23,162)

Tommy Vinas
Tommy Vinas
Nenad Medic raised from early position to 17,000. Tommy Vinas moved all in from late position for a total of 47,000. Medic made the call for 30,000 more.

Medic: {Q-Spades}{7-Spades}
Vinas: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The flop came Q-9-8 and Vinas looked poised to double up. The turn brought a seven and so did the river, to dash Vinas' hopes of capturing a bracelet. Vinas was eliminated in 35th place and received $23,162.

Kazuki Ikeuchi Eliminated in 36th Place ($23,162)

Kazuki Ikeuchi raised to 21,000, leaving himself just 3,000 behind, and when everyone folded around to Kathy Liebert, she thought a good while before making the call. The flop came {Q-Spades}{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Liebert tossed in the few chips required to set Ikeuchi all in. He called and found that the flop had been a cruel one -- he held {A-Spades}{7-Spades} but Liebert had outflopped him with the {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. The board ran out {8-Spades} and {7-Clubs} and Ikeuchi is our 36th-place finisher, winning $23,162.

The Bubble Bursts

James Gorham
James Gorham
Players have just entered the money.

James Gorham raised from late position to 16,000. The small blind, Nikolay Evdakov, made the call. Both players saw a flop of {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Evdakov bet out 20,000 and Gorham raised all in for 80,000 total. Evdakov made the call. Players around the table and spectators all peeked over to see Gorham holding {9-Spades}{8-Spades} up against Evdakov's {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

Gorham was looking to double up here, until a {Q-Diamonds} hit the turn and gave Evdakov a better two pair. The river was the {3-Spades} and Evdakov eliminated James Gorham on the bubble.

All players have been asked to turn off and put away all cell phones, headsets, and other electronic devices as play continues into the money.

Elezra and Rajkumar Go at It

Eli Elezra raised to 18,000 preflop and got a call from Vivek Rajkumar. The flop came {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The dealer put the {9-Diamonds} out for the turn card and Vivek bet 24,000. Elezra called.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and Vivek checked to Elezra. Elezra thought for some time before he decided to bet 40,000. With the action back on Vivek, he took his time to think things out.

After a minute or so, Vivek asked Eli if he would show and Eli said he would show no matter what. Vivek didn't bite on anything and still sat in thought. "I told him I'd show no matter what and he still doesn't fold," said Eli. "Now watch him move all in on me."

Vivek finally made the call and Eli showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for a queen-high flush. Vivek checked his hole cards once again and then mucked.

Elezra is now at a whopping 670,000. Vivek is down to 92,000.

Players Take a 20-Minute Break

Much to the relief of Chris Bell's bladder, the tournament staff has reversed their earlier decision and has sent the remaining 37 players in this event on their regularly scheduled 20-minute break. Once they return, we'll resume hand-for-hand play.

Raptor and Antonius Tangle Again

And again it was David Benefield who ended up raking the pot. Under the gun, Antonius raised to 15,000 and Benefield called in the big blind. The players both checked the {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop and when the {3-Diamonds} fell on the turn Benefield bet 16,500. Antonius called that bet, but when the {3-Spades} hit on the river Benefield bet 41,500 and Antonius mucked. He's now down to 70,000 in chips.

Laak Attacks the Bubble

Phil Laak
Phil Laak
Players have been on the bubble for some time now and Phil Laak has been taking full advantage of it. He's raised almost all of the hands during hand-for-hand play and has chipped up nicely.

In the most recent hand, Laak raised to 13,000 preflop and was called by Mike Sowers on the button. The flop came {2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and both players checked.

When the turn came the {7-Diamonds}, Laak led for 15,000. Sowers called.

The river came the {2-Hearts} and Laak asked the dealer for a pot count. The dealer announced "Sixty-three, five." and then Laak made a bet of 38,000.

After some thought, the 21-year-old Sowers made the call, but mucked his hand when Laak showed his ladies, the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

Laak has built up to 250,000 and Sowers is down to 190,000.
