Still Bubbly

Hand for hand play continues as we have yet to lose another player. Though the players are scheduled to have a break in about 12 minutes, the tournament staff has made the decision to continue play into the next level until the bubble bursts.

This fact did not sit well with Chris Bell, who evidently is in dire need of a bathroom break.

David Benefield Wins a Big Pot From Patrik Antonius

Ryan Young raised to 15,000 and both David Benefield and Patrik Antonius (in the small blind) called. The flop came {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and after Young checked Benefield led out for 30,000. Antonius called, Young folded, and when the {5-Diamonds} turned Antonius check-called Benefield's 50,000 bet. The {K-Spades} fell on the river and after Antonius again checked Benefield bet 150,000. This sent Antonius into the tank, and as this where on the bubble players from other tables gathered around to watch the conclusion. "Call the clock on yourself," Eli Elezra joked, and in the end Antonius showed A-J and tossed the cards into the muck. That hand left Antonius with just 110,000.

Hand for Hand

It's that time-- we're down to 37 players and only one away from the money. The tournament is now being played hand for hand until the bubble bursts.

Mike Sexton Doubles Through Eli Elezra

Mike Sexton
Mike Sexton
With play now hand for hand, Mike Sexton moved in and was called by Eli Elezra. In a previous hand Elezra cracked A-K with A-7, but this time he held Big Slick and was crushed by Sexton's aces. Elezra caught a king on the {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop but the {A-Spades} locked the hand up for Sexton and doubled him up to 110,000. It also kept him from going out on the bubble.

Eli Elezra Up; Eliminates Jeremiah Vinsant

Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra
With the bubble approaching, Jeremiah Vinsant and Eli Elezra traded raises until all the chips were in the middle. Elezra's {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} trailed Vinsant's {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. "Couldn't lay it down, I was priced in," Elezra said, and it turned out the price was right because he hit his kicker on the {4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} flop. The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Vinsant was eliminated just short of the bubble. Elezra now has a towering 550,000 stack.

Tuan Le Eliminated

Tuan Le
Tuan Le
After Joe Sanders raised the action, Tuan Le reraised to 30,000 from the big blind. Sanders then moved all in for over 70,000 and Tuan made the call.

Le: {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Sanders: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades}, giving Sanders top two pair. The turn gave Le two pair with the {8-Diamonds}, giving him a slight hope. The river was the {K-Clubs} and Le was eliminated.

Sanders has moved up to 190,000 chips.

Humberto Brenes Eliminated

Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes
In a battle of the blinds, Humberto Brenes opened for a pot-sized raise, Michael Pesek re-potted, and Brenes called all in for his last 68,000. Brenes turned up A-8 and found his hand dominated by Pesek's A-T. No miracle for the Costa Rican Shark on the board and he was eliminated, just short of the money.

After the hand, Pesek was up to 280,000.

Chuck Pacheco Doubles through Matt Graham

After an early-position raise, Matt Graham made the call and Chuck Pacheco moved all-in for his last 53,000. The initial raiser folded and Graham made the call. Graham turned over {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} while Pacheco held the {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop didn't offer Pacheco much hope but the {2-Clubs} on the turn gave him a flush draw--a draw he hit when the {8-Clubs} arrived on the river. He doubled up to 125,000 while Graham's stack fell to 79,000.
