$5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout: End of Day 2

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. After winning what amounted to a sit-n-go yesterday in Day 1 of the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout, 36 players entered today's Day 2 on a high note. Thirty of them saw their spirits come crashing down. Such are the highs and lows of a WSOP event, but this swing of emotions is never more apparent than at a shootout.

Exiting throughout day 2 action were notable pros Tony G, Joe Sebok, Jacobo Fernandez, Erik Seidel, Burt Boutin, Alex Jacob, Maciek Gracz, Adam Levy, Eric Froehlich, Eugene Katchalov, John Murphy, and John Juanda.

Unfortunately for them, it didn't matter if they blew it in hand #1 or battled it out in heads up for hours, only to lose -- the payout was the same: $16,920. The real money is in the final table of six players.

These six managed to best their tables for the second straight day, only to have to do it all one more time tomorrow at Day 3, this time with a million in chips with which to work:

Sirous Jamshidi
Greg "FBT" Mueller
Thomas Roupe
Phil Tom
Tim West
Leo Wolpert

Anything can happen. Check back here at 2 p.m. Pacific time on Sunday to follow all of the final table action.
