A world class field of 158 players has been reduced to around 80 players after some fascinating play and entertaining table dynamics.
Chad Brown stormed through the field during the middle of the day and should hold the overnight chip lead. Daniel Negreanu, Cyndy Violette, and Erik Seidel won't be far behind, with the likes of Archie "The Greek" Karas, Greg Raymer, Phil Ivey, Scotty Nguyen, Doyle Brunson, and Tony G all joining us again on Day 2.
Our live coverage kicks off at 3 p.m. PDT tomorrow as we play down to the final table. We look forward to your company then!
Doyle Brunson is sitting low on chips and just made a completion bet. Apparently he said, "Come and get me," when he threw the bet out. Everyone folded to his completion. After the hand, Scotty Nguyen said, "When he says 'come and get me' baby, you know not to come baby."
Tony G has made a surge late in the evening despite giving off the vibes of someone disinterested in playing. He's had his head tucked into the collar of his jacket for quite some time and has been spotted "resting" his eyes on several occasions.
A few moments ago we spotted him in a hand where the action was on him and Tony was genuinely fast asleep. One of his opponents had to give Tony a shout to wake him up to play his hand!
We've just ticked past 2 a.m. so that's pretty understandable, but good luck to the person who disturbs Tony while he sleeps!
There was four-way action going into fifth street between Daniel Negreanu, Archie "The Greek" Karas, Dario Minieri, and an unknown player in middle position.
With a board of , Negreanu bet and was raised by the middle-position player. Minieri folded, "The Greek" called, and Negreanu reraised. Both the middle position player and Karas called.
On sixth street, Negreanu caught the , the middle-position player caught the , and Karas caught the . Negreanu bet and both opponents called.
On seventh street the action was checked around and Negreanu showed ( ) for aces up. Both of his opponents mucked their hands.
After the hand Negreanu is up to 82,000 in chips and Karas is down to 51,000.
Jennifer Harman has been eliminated from today's event. In her final hand the board bricked out for her and all she was left with was king-high to send her to the exit just short of a Day 2 berth.
