Mizrachi has his eye on Vos too
Doing incredibly well is Michael Mizrachi, absolutely crushing his table. He's steaming ahead on a massive 13,000, and has reduced the table, which still includes Australian bracelet winner Mark Vos, to five-handed. Most recently he called an opponent's mid-position push for 1,000 with -- his opponent was holding a meager and failed to hit the board.
T6 Poker's Anthony Chatelain is heading towards the door. He was initially crippled by a three-way all-in with A-Ks versus A-J versus Q-Q before finally succumbing to pocket queens with pocket sevens for his final 850.
Nick Binger, brother of former main event finalist Michael, is now pushing up the poker daisies. He found himself in all sorts of bother when he pushed with on an flop. His opponent turned over a dominating , and although a king on the turn gave Binger some outs, they failed to emerge on the raggy river.
Not playing this event but patrolling the tables, apparently handing out or possibly trying to sell copies of his book, is Barry Greenstein. He's been clutching two copies of said book for quite a while as he's been doing the rounds, so the take-up's clearly been pretty slow so far, but there are plenty of tables yet to try...
Bracelet just out of shot
People who are OUT include Ben Fineman and Eric Haber.
Those doing well on roughly double their starting stack are Tony Cousineau (acquired thorough knocking out Haber) and Moto Mabuchi (acquired through events unknown).
Those still on around their starting stack include 2006 $1,500 NLHE bracelet winner Anders Henriksson.
Quinn Do has doubled through and now boasts a stack of 5,800. Calling the cutoff's preflop raise of 325 from the button, Do reraised all in for 2,400 when his foe continue bet 500 on the flop. Whilst Do had made two pair with , his opponent could only muster an , which failed to improve on the turn and river.
Great Scott!
The latest player to bite the dust is Scott Freeman. All in for 800 from the small blind, Freeman's A-5 was no match for his opponent's A-T, which just avoided a split pot to survive an 8-A-8-J-J rainbow board.
Lee Watkinson has also been eliminated from today's event.
Alright, I busted! Let's get massaging.
Nam Le is no more -- he raised to 300 preflop, found a caller in the big blind, and then called all in for 600 on the J-9-2 flop. Le had pocket eights, the big blind had J-10, and without any miracles on the turn or river, Le was heading for the door.
Also OUT, and taking it in a most relaxed manner, is Kenna James. It's unknown whether he finally snapped and called JC Tran all in or whether he met his tournament fate another way, but Mr James is currently enjoying a post-exit massage, and discussing the power of negative thinking with Roy Winston, who has also recently departed.
And just like that, one of poker's true characters is gone, Phil Hellmuth pushing all in with but being looked up, as you do, by . No help on the board and he was gone.
chick magnet
According to my field reporters, there are a couple of hot chicks hanging around Phil He11muth, but sadly for the 11 time bracelet winner, they're of the avian kind.
Instead of scantily clad women hanging off each arm, a sight which I have witnessed on numerous occasions, there are two pigeons flapping their wings furiously and causing a stir.
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until next year before a winged creature wins a bracelet, as both pigeons have been disqualified for fowl play.
