Phifer Playing Smooth

Mekhi Phifer led out preflop for 300 and was called by two players. The flop came {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and all three players checked. After the {6-Spades} fell on the turn, Phfer made it 800 to go and was raised all in by one of his opponents. The other player folded and Phifer called, showing {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} against his opponent's {A-Spades}{3-Spades}. The {10-Hearts} sent his opponent to the rail and Phifer is up to 3,850 after the hand.

Table Talk

Some pros stand out in the field, some are a little harder to spot...

Seat #3: "So do you play much poker?"

Daniel Alaei: "Meh, a little..."

Mig.com Eliminated

James "Mig.com" Mackey led out preflop and was raised by Barry Greenstein in the small blind. Mackey fired back by moving all in and Greenstein instantly called, turning over pocket aces. Mackey showed A-K and was eliminated as he failed to improve.

Little's Lucky Chop

We're not sure how the action went down other than we spotted Jonathan Little with his tournament life on the line holding {7-Spades}{8-Spades} against an opponent's pocket jacks with all the chips in preflop.

Remarkably the board ran out A-Q-Q-K-A and both played the board to chop up the pot! Little survived the confrontation to still sit comfortably with around 2,600 in chips.

de Wolfe Eliminated

Roland de Wolfe
Roland de Wolfe
Roland de Wolfe moved all in preflop from the button and was called by the big blind. de Wolf turned over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} while his opponent showed {K-Spades}{J-Spades}. The flop came {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} and the {9-Diamonds} fell on the turn. A jack would give de Wolfe a higher straight, but the {6-Clubs} on the river sealed his fate for this event.

Mortensen Builds

The pros are continuing to show the amateurs how poker is really played. Carlos Mortensen called a raise to 300 from a middle-position player. The small blind also called for a three-handed flop of {4-Spades}{K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The preflop raiser bet 400. Only Mortensen called for a total pot heading into the turn of 1,800. The turn {7-Clubs} brought a bet of 500 from the preflop raiser, and without missing a beat, Mortensen raised to 3,000. His opponent quickly folded.

Mortensen's stack is now at about 5,300.

Scotty Having a Good Time

Scotty Nguyen was just involved in a pot with a woman in middle position. When the cards were shown, his opponent had rivered a straight. After seeing the hand he said, "Aww. It's all good, baby!"

After the hand it appeared that his opponent was trying to explain why she played the way she did, and Nguyen replied, "It's all good, baby! It's all good," while smiling his classic smile.

Insta-Call and Muck

In late position, John Juanda raised to 150 and a player in middle position made the call before Juanda could get the chips into the pot. The flop was the {Q-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Spades} and the middle-position player checked. Juanda made a bet of 250 and again his opponent insta-called. Both the turn of the {A-Hearts} and the river of the {J-Diamonds} were checked around. Juanda showed {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and his opponent insta-mucked.
