Lyle Berman Doubles Up Twice

It had been a series of all in bets from one player or the other preflop, and finally both agreed to give it a go. Lyle Berman opened {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts}; Alec Torelli showed {K-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}. The first card off the deck was the {9-Clubs}, and it was joined by the {10-Hearts} and the {Q-Clubs}. Berman made a lock hand on the turn with the {K-Spades}; the river {A-Hearts} was superfluous.

After the hand, Berman had 422,000 chips to Torelli's 858,000. Two hands later, they got it in preflop again. Berman showed {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}; Torelli held {9-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}. The board of {10-Hearts} {10-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {8-Spades} {4-Hearts} made another big hand for Berman. Just like that, he has the chip lead, with 796,000 chips to Torelli's 484,000.
