Battle of the Blinds

A preflop raising war broke out between Nam Le in the big blind and his small-blind opponent, and all the chips ended up in the middle.

Le flipped over {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} to his opponent's {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades}.

The board ran {10-Hearts} {2-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, meaning Le doubled up his opponent.

Le down to 6,000 now.

Aguiar Doubles

Jonathan "FatalError" Aguiar got it all in with {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} against an opponent's {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} on a {J-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} flop and was about to walk away from the table after the {A-Hearts} fell on the turn, but he sat right back down and scooped the pot when the {Q-Spades} fell on the river. He's up to 7,000.

'SEAT OPEN'

The shout of 'SEAT OPEN' is still the most common thing heard in the room as player after player falls. It's not surprising, really, as players only had 3,000 chips to start with. It'll only slow down when players get deeper compared to the blinds a little later in the tournament.

Humberto Brenes Cracks a Set

We caught up to this hand on the turn. With the board reading {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {K-Spades}, Brenes checked to his lone opponent, who moved all in for 1,700. Brenes made the call and the players showed:

Brenes: {J-Diamonds} {10-Spades}
Opponent: {6-?} {6-?}

The river came the {9-Spades} to give Humberto the straight and send his opponent to the rail.

Pay Attention if You Want to Steal

After seeing his early big stack dwindle back down to 1,850, Alan Sass has doubled to 4,200. He raised all in from middle position, and the button, who hadn't seen that Sass was all in, announced "raise". After consultation with the floor, he was obligated to make at least the minimum raise. Sass held {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}, and his opponent {J-?} {9-?}. It held up and Sass doubled.

Chop Chop

All the chips went in on {Q-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} flop. Hasan Habib was one of the players and was holding {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}.

His opponent was holding {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} giving a back-door flush outs. Habib saw this and starting cheering for a diamond.

The turn brought a diamond in the shape of {2-Diamonds} before the river blanked with a {5-Clubs}.

They chopped the pot and Habib said, "I tried to root for you, bubby."

Habib on 3,500 chips.
