Mean Minneapolis

Minneapolis Jim Meehan has doubled up, betting preflop under the gun and every street after on the {6-Spades} {7-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} board until he was all in on the river - Mehan showed {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} and his calling station opponent simply mucked.

Dewey Tomko Out

And just like that, as one fez wearing comedian famously said, we've lost Dewey Tomko. An earlier double through back up to 3,000 was soon followed by an ultimate demise, his pocket deuces no match for his opponent's pair of pocket kings. The cowboys remained on their saddles and Tomko was gone.

Touching Felt

down in the dumps
down in the dumps
Dewey Tomko may be taking his last breaths as he's down to a lowly 1,400 in chips with the blinds at 150/300. Stumbling into a T-J-K flop with K-J, Dewey ran into a set of tens, the queen on the turn providing outs for a split pot that never quite emerged. Huey and Louie will not be pleased.

Attack of the Clonie

Clonie Gowan has knocked out (i.e., of the tournament - no fisticuffs in the Amazon Room) a short-stacked opponent, all in with K-9 against the opponent's 2-9 on a 9-high flop.

Gowan now up to 4500.

More Bad News

Mrs Beagle
Mrs Beagle
Not only have I been hit by the sudden exit of Jennifer Tilly (to a cooler, might I add), but I have also learned that I shall now be vying for her affections with fellow reporter Danafish, who has just informed me that Jennifer complimented her hair whilst they were sharing toilet time. "Back off, she's mine," I commanded. "But I might be interested," she replied mischievously.

Will the turmoil ever end! Still, it gives me another opportunity to post her picture. :-)

Singing David's Praise

The small blind checks the {4-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} flop to David Singer, who bets 750. The small blind calls.

They both check the {5-Clubs} turn.

The river comes down the {K-Spades} and now Mr Small Blind bets 800. David thinks for a while, and eventually makes an excellent call with {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts} - Mr Small Blind shows {Q-Clubs} {7-Spades} for a busted straight draw.

Singer now on 19,000 or thereabouts.

Shot from the Cannon

She's gone. Sob.
She's gone. Sob.
A tear trickles down my eye as I type, as the level of eye candy in today's event takes an insurmountable hit. All in with J-K on a seemingly advantageous J-J-4 flop, Jennifer Tilly is dismayed to see a jubilant Nicholas Cannon flip over pocket fours for the flopped full house. No miracle out and Tilly can do nothing but exit stage left. That was cooler than a fridge in the North Pole, but nonetheless it leaves a triumphant Cannon with a chip-lead-threatening 34,000 in chips.
