Sachinidis Out

Jim Sachinidis is a goner. Shortstacked, he went all in utg with {A-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and found himself up against the button holding {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

Board: {7-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {4-Spades}

---------

Also OUT are Jon Friedberg, Adam Levy and Anna Wroblewski.

Morgan Among Leaders

Jordan Morgan is among our current chip leaders on 33,000. Most recently he forced an opponent to fold on the river of a {9-Hearts} {9-Spades} {8-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {7-Spades} board -- he'd bet out on the flop and checked the turn, but a 950 bet on the river was enough to make his opponent fold {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} up.

Gus Hansen Eliminated

Smooth operator
Smooth operator
All the female viewers here at the Rio gasp and clutch onto their chest as we lose the ever-popular Great Dane Gus Hansen. Pushing all in on a {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Hearts} flop, Hansen held {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and was looked up by a drawtastic {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Although the {6-Diamonds} was close but no cigar, the {8-Spades} was right on the money meaning the multiple WPT champion was gone.

Wasicka Makes Good Call and Is Punished For It

The poker gods work in mysterious ways sometimes.

Scott Bohlman raised to 675 from the button, and Paul Wasicka called. Wasicka checked the {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} flop, and Bohlman bet 3,500, to cover Wasicka who only had 1,975 left. Wasicka thought about it for a while, and then called all in, finding his {Q-Spades} {J-Diamonds} miles ahead of Bohlman's {2-Clubs} {2-Spades}.

Turn: {2-Hearts}

River: {4-Hearts}

Wasicka is OUT.

Freddy Deeb Eliminated

With the board reading {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}, Deeb check-called a bet of 800 before check-raising 2,200 on the {J-Spades} turn. His opponent called all in and showed {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Freddy had {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for the open ended straight draw, but failed to hit on the {9-Clubs} river.

Down to 2,000, Deeb exited a few hands later.

Back-in Black

The Mad Monk
The Mad Monk
Black is always worth backing, but particularly so now after he trebled through from the button. All in preflop with aces versus pocket eights, Black survived a scary 9-6-5-x-x board to stay alive.

Hachem Eliminated

Joe Hachem is now OUT. Holding {K-Spades} {J-Hearts}, he hit top pair on the {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} flop and checked it. When he made top two pair on the {J-Spades} turn, he bet 400 and then reraised all in to his opponent's raise -- however his opponent was holding {6-Hearts} {6-Spades} for a set, and Hachem didn't improve on the {4-Hearts} river to hit the rail.
