Seat Open!

The final number of entrants to todays field is 720, but in just the first two hours of the event we've already lost nearly 100 players. We continue to hear the infamous "Seat open!" being yelled over and over throughout today's tournament area and as the blind levels increase we expect to hear it even more.

Murphy Chops, Brenes Out

After a preflop raise of 300, Humberto Brenes flopped a costly board.

Flop: {4-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}

The original raiser led out for 900 and Humberto called, but John Murphy moved all in for an additional 1,325. After the original raiser called, Brenes was priced in for his nut flush draw holding {4-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}.

Brenes didn't get there, though Murphy, holding {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts} did manage to flop the nut low and chopped with his opponent who had flopped top and bottom pair.

Perry Friedman Has Been Eliminated

Perry Friedman raised to 600 under the gun and the button and big blind both called. The flop came {J-Spades} {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and when Friedman bet his last 500 the button folded but the player in the big blind made the call. He held {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} for the set of jacks to Friedman's{K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts}. The {9-Clubs} on the turn and {9-Diamonds} on the river gave the other player a full house and Friedman's day came to an end.

Bellande Impresses

Another player in the field came over to the table Jean-Robert Bellande is playing at. When he saw Bellande's chip stack he immediately inquired "How the hell did you get all those?"

Bellande's response was genuine: "Got my money in with the worst of it and got there. Anytime you can get it in and get there with the worst of it you can make a lot of money."

This isn't entirely true. In the hands we've seen with Bellande, he's certainly had the best of it.

The Field So Far

We just passed the 700 mark for today's field. We're up to 701 entrants and with about 30 minutes left to go before registration closes that number should tick upwards a bit.
